It was Aug 6, 1999 my little sister birthdayy who is turning 10 , we are having a party at our house , all our relatives present , Pops was there my uncle was there , even my grandmother and grandfather was there but there's no sign of my father, My mother insist on waiting for him so we wait him about 1 or 2 hour still no sign i stand at the door hoping to see him , but no one is coming only dark street, clouds and cars are the only moving things that can be seen , so my brother told my mother just to start it.
We have a great birthday party we were all happy , my grandfather makes his special steak and my grandmother makes her special dumpling we all ate and dance with the birthday girl happily
"When a baby is enjoying his day laughing, getting overwhelm by happiness , sadness and the sounds of crying followed"
That's what happened on that day on our little sister birthday , i was dancing with my little sister on the backyard , i saw pops and my mother arguing in her room from the window , i told my brother to check on them.
He went up after a while he waves me to come up , i give my little sister to my grandpa and he starts dancing with her, she laugh so hard it even makes me happy and hard to leave her. She was our family treasure
When i went inside , and starts to take a step on the stairs i heard my mom crying , i ran up the stairs skipping two stairs at one time, i bang the door open and my Brother was consoling my Mother hugging her and Pops was staring outside the window to hide his tears , when i asked what happened no one answered me , i ask them again still no answer,
"WHAT HAPPENED!!!!!" i screamed and kick the table beside me and broke it , my Mother cried harder . My brother got up and whisper "Father's death they found him death near the port " trying his best to hold his tears but his eyes were all teary i can see it he was trying to be the man of the house since my Father is gone.
My whole inside turned upside down , i want to cry but my tears won't even shed ,i see things all blur, everything turned black and white ,i was angry at him , out of all things he choose to be death on his youngest daughter birthday how dare he , if he is going to die why not wait for another week , my sister would take it so fucking hard , she was my Fathers favourite and she loves Father more than she loves us. We don't want to tell her and my mother was having a hard time to breathe , so we make a plan , Pops makes decision because he was my father best man , Bestfriend a Father to us and a Brother to my Mother ,
"It is such a tragedy on this beautiful night we lost your father my bestfriend my not by blood brother so David take your mother to the hospital don't let anyone from downstairs see you we would make distraction with your brother , i will tell your grandfather the news and they will stay at your house, after they put lily to bed your grandfather will tell all the relatives,me and Sloan will go to port and retrieve your Father's body"
So we proceed like pops said. After he told everything to my grandpa we went to his car and droves , we don't speak a word the only sound that can be heard was our heart throbbing and pops wiping his tears.
Even if i hate him , i still don't want him to die i prayed to God to not let it be him , praying to God to be anothers man body not my father , how will lily get over it?
the thoughts makes me even more angry and sad.
By the time we reached the port pops phone rings and it was my brother he told him that Mom was okay and she was too shocked that she cried too much and fell unconcious
"Okay" pops said hanging up the phone and putting in his back pocket
There was a restricted line, ambulance and police car and lots of people around, we shove through the crowds , pops told the officer that we are his relatives and showed our id and they let us in ,
