"Alright, who opens their gifts first?" Jordan asks as she sits down beside the tree. We each got a gift for each other.
"Jayden should go first," Noah says, gesturing his hand to me. I'm sitting on the couch beside him. I smile the second I hear my name.
"I don't have to."
"No, but you are," Jordan laughs softly as she hands me two bags—one from her and one from Noah. I always get all red whenever I open presents in front of people; family parties sucked because we always went one at a time. But also, my aunt got me my first binder my 14th Christmas. I grab a large red box first, one with candy-cane wrapping. I unwrap it, tossing the wrapper into a pile.
"This one's mine," Jordan tells me, sitting on the other side of me. Under the wrapper is a plain cardboard box. "There's more stuff inside... obviously.."
I chuckle and open the box, Noah leaning against me as I yank the cardboard open. In the box are a few things; headphones, still packaged, a bag, and a beanie (of course there's a beanie.) I grin, looking at the headphones first. They're black with little white musical notes on the side and they've got really puffy padding.
"Thank you, Jordan," I whisper as I read the packaging's labels. I look back into the cardboard box and grab the bag—a white bag made of cloth. "What is this?" I ask as I open the bag, looking inside.
I gasp and immediately start laughing because Jordan put condoms in a bag as a Christmas gifts.
"What?" Noah asks, watching me laugh and cover my mouth. He looks in the bag and his jaw drops, his head shooting up at Jordan. "Are you kidding? We already have these!" That makes me laugh more. Noah grabs a condom package and reads it. "Extra small? Is this a joke?!"
I'm wheezing, covering my face and leaning forward, gasping for air; my face is red. Noah's laughing too. Jordan pulls the box off my lap so that I don't break anything.
"I mean, I assumed just for you because Jayden is too loud to hide the fact that he's a bottom."
I shake my head and cover my mouth, my elbows resting (not resting..) on my knees as my laughter dies down.
"I'm not talking about who they're for! Extra small?!"
"Errrrm.. uh-huh." Jordan is holding back laughing herself, her breathing getting heavier occasionally. Noah shakes his head and tosses the condoms behind him.
"Whatever. My present." Noah grabs a large bag, colored blue with snowflakes, setting it on my lap. He kisses my cheek. "Open."
I roll my eyes, my face all hot from laughing so hard as I pull the tissue paper out of the bag, looking down into it. It's dark, and I can't see, so I just grab randomly and pull out. The first thing I grab is a t-shirt, and I hold it out—it's a Pierce The Viel t-shirt. I'm smiling widely. "Shit! I love Pierce The Veil!"
"My exact point." Noah's smiling at me, and even if I'm not looking at him, I can see his face in the corner of my eye. The way he's looking at me makes my heart flutter.
I pull another box out of the bag—a My Chemical Romance funko pop; a Black Parade one. I grin and lean against Noah. "This is really cool. Thank you."
Noah nods and kisses the top of my head. "Anything for you. I love you."
"I love you too."
I sit back up, checking to make sure the bag's empty before setting it down.
"Jordan can go next," Noah says, sitting up as well. Jordan smiles, leans forward, and grabs one of her gifts, a pink bag, this one from Noah. She opens the bag and pulls out a black dress with a fluffy skirt and smiles.
"This is pretty," she says, holding it out and almost seeming mesmerized. "I feel like Zoey would love this.." She and Zoey, the girl she was seeing, became girlfriends a few weeks ago. They've texted nonstop.
"Jayden had to tell me what size you wear because I ddin't know," Noah snickers as he gives me credit, "but I picked the dress."
"Thank you," she says, smiling at Noah before looking in the bag again. She pulls out a little packet of headbands, all different kinds. "These are so cute. Thank you, really."
Noah nods as Jordan puts her things back in the bag, and she grabs my present to her, a purple box with stars on it—not very Christmas themed, but who cares?
Ew. Bad memories. Don't ask yourself that question again, Jayden.
Jordan unwraps the box, revealing big black boots with silver butterfly keychains hanging from them. She smiles.
"I'm sorry that's like, all I got," I say, "I only had like a couple hundred. They were expensive and I remember you saying you loved them." I split the 500 my boss gave me all that time ago for these two.
...And 1/3 for the third.
Jordan shakes her head. "No, I love them, Jayden. Thank you." She looks up at me with warm eyes, giggling as she closes the box. "Okay, Noah, next, right?"
Noah sucks his teeth and sits up again, stretching and yawning. I stare at his arms; his chest; his face; those pretty brown eyes of his. He's so perfect. "Yeah?"
Jordan hands Noah her present, a red box with candy canes, similar to mine. Noah opens it and, like mine, it's a plain cardboard box, supposedly with ofher things inside. Noah rips open the box and looks inside, smiling down at the box. I smile just because he smiled and lean against him once again, looking in the box. He grabs out a red shirt that says "LOVEJOY" with a picture of the lead singer—I forget his name—overlapping the words holding a guitar.
I blush because we both got band t-shirts for Christmas and I'm clingy so of course I love that.
"Holy shit. It's Wilbur Soot," Noah chuckles. Wilbur Soot. That's his name. "Thanks, Jord."
I haven't called Jordan "Jord" in a while. I mean, No one calls me "Jay" anymore, do they?
Noah folds the shirt back up and grabs the other thing—a box of books from an author I know Noah loves. "I haven't read in a while."
"I bought those back in April," Jordan says. "I was going to give them to you for no reason, but then you.. erm.."
Don't say it.
"..disappeared," Jordan finishes. I hear Noah sigh, but Jordan shakes her head. "I hope you're still a nerd."
"Don't worry," Noah laughs as he puts the books back in the box and grabs my gift—a black box with red stripes because I'm silly. "I'm still a nerd."
Noah opens my box, and a large poster is inside, an Arctic Monkeys poster, with a list of songs in the corner. I listen to Arctic Monkeys sometimes—I really like the songs Knee Socks and Crying Lightning. That was less money than the shoes I got, so I got him something else, something that's not in the box.
"This is sick," Noah says as he pulls it out. "Thank you, my love."
"I have something else for you. I'll be right back." I stand up and walk away, and a few moments later I come back and place a keyboard in Noah's lap—a piano keyboard. He's been talking about wanting to learn piano, and while I couldn't afford a Piano...
"You got me a whole ass keyboard?"
"Yeah?? Here, I'll plug it in." I kneel down, plugging the cord into the wall and pressing the button on the keyboard.
Noah laughs softly as he presses a few notes. "Goddamn. I'm so in love with you."
I smile as I watch him play with the keyboard, falling in love with this boy more and more.
