Aoba took out a folded letter from her bloody pocket and handed it to the maid. But where is she? Where's Chitose? Did she follow Ibuki, too?
"Written in the letter contains the crucial pieces such as the Margravate joining hands with the enemy. The Imperials arrived swiftly in airships to the south of the city and blocked access before the citizens could flee. They prepare to lay siege on the Nashist, and Duchess Lautrec intends to resist it for as long as the city can endure until a relief force arrives."
"Sister...the juniors..."
Captain Phyllis held her Vice Captain up but shared the grim look in her eyes. The second he gave them a second chance, they ended up with a fate worse than the death poison gave them. Of all times, of all times to let them go, why now?
"The Army...Declare the Grand Canarian Army! Summon the Court, commence our envoys to our southern neighbors, and ready the offerings. Aria, I cannot emphasize the importance of gaining the Revalean League's support."
"Yes, Mother!" the Crown Princess stormed out of the room.
The Queen continued spouting lots of interesting things. Whenever her soldiers and attendants heard whatever code, buzzword, and lingo she said, they bolted out to their tasks without question like clockwork.
"Sir Nagato!" Kazuya stomped his foot in place as the pouncing beastwoman almost brought him down. "I beg you, save our knights! Save my sister!"
Her Captain jumped behind her, grabbing her but not forcing it. "Beretta, release him!"
"With your vehicles, you can get there before the relief force!"
Kazuya pushed her away.
"I'm so sorry, Mister Nagato. Please pay her no mind. We understand if you refuse."
"That won't be necessary, Vice Captain. After finishing our business here, we're going home."
"No, wait! I will offer you everything I have! Please, she's all I have!"
"Beretta, have you no sense of shame?!"
"Let me finish," he broke free and fixed his suit. "As I've said, we'll be going home. It just happens there's a war in the way, but whatever. We could use it to stretch our legs a bit."
Her widening eyes glimmered from tears as it dawned on her, and Kazuya groaned as the Vice Captain reached for his hand. Every bone and joint on his hand bent in all the bad places.
"Thank you! Thank you!"
"That's enough, Beretta. Let him go."
Kazuya sighed in relief. Everyone needed to calm down. Her, specifically. A maid took the initiative, conjuring a healing light, and gave her a nod in return. As the oppressive silence took over, as everyone got their bearings, the Queen filled it.
"You have agreed to my knight's insensitive request. If you wish, let us know if you need anything."
"Then please permit us to borrow two carriages for my men. Our vehicles are stowed away in the outskirts."
Queen Isabella nodded to Captain Phyllis, and the Vice Captain ran out of the room.
"We will have it ready at the gate!"
"Anything else?"
"An army to bail us out."
The Queen smirked. "Then you'll have to hold out for a little while longer."
"We plan to."
Kazuya and Private Maeda clicked their heels, and Kazuya twisted his legs towards the door and stopped by Aoba. Welcoming the drill back, she straightened herself and gave way. Across the halls, servants and soldiers ran. Whatever shred of grandeur the Palace wanted to exude, it's gone.
