The cool night air welcomes me at the heart of the city —Olyi. Five hours travel back from Grand Amber to Power Onyx has been fruitful.

I sit with my two bestfriends Jasper and Anna-Rose at a local bar. Sharing a summary of the rundown with Jay and writing down names of friends, course mates and neighbours we'd like to invite.

"So we're going to have it on my birthday which is a week to his induction as Beta " I tell them as Jasper requested for the date

"Wait- wait there girl. You need to rethink this whole moving to Amber situation. I understand that you're in love and you're thinking with your heart but have you forgotten what granny Marla told you?" Jasper chips in

"I haven't, okay? But let's put things in perspective, she was looking out for me because of their late King Izhbahek, who is clearly....no more" I reason

"Don't think we've recovered easily from that after five years of their King's passing just because you found a good man from there to fall in love with. By the way, I still hate him for being straight" Jasper says and blows air on his manicured nails

"We are happy for you Lori, and we'll miss you so much. I actually got jealous when you mentioned all the privileges you'll be  enjoying but I think Granny was not only concerned about the late King's rule but the entire kingdom as whole. Look, we are still finding our footing in mingling with them because, there's a sense of an uprising fear after what they did to us" Anna adds and was bitting her fingers reminiscing some of the battle she witnessed

Hearing them talk like this, feels as though I'm doing something wrong

My face falls, "I - I have made up my mind. I'm sorry but I believe this is best for me. I'll be glad to take you both along to stay with me if you want to but I can't force you. I wish you'll understand how I feel and be happy for me instead of stating the obvious negative facts" I pour out my heart

After a moment of silence I ask them to give me the list they've jotted down and decided to take my leave

"We're not done with it yet," Anna replies holding it firmly in her grasp, refusing to give it.

They know I'm hurt.

"It doesn't matter, just give it to me. I want to go home"

"Oh come on. Don't be like that with us giving off your sorrow face and making us feel sad. We can't stop you or fault you for being in love, what we can do is offer our sincerest constructive advice as best buddies. No room for sensitivity here Lori, we love you."

The say-it-like-it-is Jasper calls me out and pulls me into a bear hug with Anna.

"For certain, reserve the first roll seat for us and our squad. We'll be there" Anna whispers into my ears

"Promise?" I ask

"Promise." They respond in unison

.....

About an hour later, I get home...had my bath and potato salad as dinner.

I relax on the couch with Netflix on, watching TSITP

Easing into the second season of 'The summer I turned pretty' my doorbell chimes

I lazily walk to see a delivery man at the intercom with a package in hand.

Opening the door," delivery for Lorena Giudhad"

I take it, sign and waited for him leave.

Picking up the card from the package,
It reads...

'Since I can't find the perfect words to describe your beauty, so I try my best to modify it with this lovely evening gown. Please wear it for me at our Royal Ball where you'll be introduced to the Kingdom makers and royal subject as my wife to be'

Is this not too much to ask already? Why the need for an introduction.

You're getting married to a second-in-command to the King. You need to be introduced so they don't see you as a stranger on the day of your marriage. It's the norm.

I need to call Jay for more details about this.
