One second, you could be having the best day of your life, and suddenly something that you could never have comprehended happens, and it's like an electric shock that wakes you up to the reality of your situation.

The reality is that happiness is temporary. Always. No matter what the situation is,.

I was allowed to take leave for a maximum of four days on this mission, and I would damned well not use it now. I had conflicting feelings about my past, and I could never look Diego in the eyes again now that he knew the truth.

To be honest, I don't think he would even want anything to do with me once he knew what I had been through. In fact, it wasn't fair of me to expect anything from him.

Hey, I am taking my four-day break now.
I will be back in time for the next mission. I'm sorry for not informing you sooner.

I left the text message and switched off my phone so that I couldn't be disturbed or tracked. Thankfully, I had my apartment keys in my small purse, which I kept handy, so I drove back to my apartment.

I need to take care of the Sebastian problem.

That note was definitely his handwriting, and I wanted to track him down before he had the time to plan.

But first, I have to meet Sasha and see what's gotten her so shaken up and paranoid. It must be something important because I've never seen her this way before. For Sasha to be on her guard meant that something serious was going on. Right now, all I needed was alcohol and sleep to keep my brain from overthinking too much.

I inhaled a stressed breath and massaged my temple with my free hand, trying to think of a solution for this new mess. I didn't have it in myself to continue this mission knowing that Diego, out of all people, knew about my past.

My apartment building soon came into view, and I parked the car before getting off and making my way towards my apartment. Thankfully, it was on the ground floor, so I took out my keys and unlocked the door.

Home, sweet home.

The thing is, Diego knowing about my past, the threats from Sebastian, and the bad memories that came with all of that is just too much. Even for me.

Alcohol and sleep, here I come.

The loud ringing of my alarm woke me up from my peaceful slumber, and I groaned loudly before I turned it off with a 'thud!'.

I rolled out of bed and washed my face with ice-cold water to get rid of my drowsiness. It was time to meet up with Sasha, so I changed into a fresh pair of clothes and sprayed some perfume to overpower the stench of whiskey in the air around me. I wasn't feeling energetic, so I just wore an oversized t-shirt with the first pair of jeans I could find.

I tried my best to cover up my puffy face and swollen eyes as best I could, but even with makeup, it was proving to be a bit difficult.
