"You want to know what happened, don't you?" Puffer had turned his bike off, and kicked his stand down, preferring to just rest his feet on the pegs instead of holding the bike up. John guessed Puffer certainly was not heavy enough to break his kickstand, so he let it be.
"I'll tell you one thing, I didn't do it." Puffer had no malice in his voice at all, it was still just as light and friendly as it was before. "I wish he'd stop blaming me, and let life go back to how it was before." His voice cracked at the end of his statement, to which he simply shook his head to.
"Then what actually happened, because I don't like being kept in the dark, Puffer." John turned to face Puffer, only to see he wasn't facing him anymore, instead he was looking away, one hand on the tank of his bike, the other resting on the chin of his helmet, fingers stretched over his visor.
"Yeah, I'll tell you. I need to tell someone anyway, thanks for coming to listen to my side of the story." John nodded to Puffer, who turned to face him again, helmet tilted down. "Just don't act like I'm sure you will afterwards."
"I won't do anything drastic unless you tell me you did actually do all that shit."
John could sense Puffers mild offence as he looked up, but only a little bit "No, no, no. I didn't do that, I'm not heartless." The mild whimper in his voice was enough to give John the impression he was at the brink of tears regardless.
"I-I don't know what actually happened, I just remember seeing Smit the way he was after, and begging Droid to help him. I'm sure you know Droid, right? He was kind of known for helping people get out of the gang. I didn't really have another option." Puffers voice was wavering, but John still wasn't convinced he wasn't faking it.
"He wasn't going to help him, Smit was in too deep of shit, and Droid won't help if it means he'll get caught. I was willing to give him everything, money, pleasure, I would sell him my fucking soul, body, whatever he wanted, just to get Smit the fuck out, but once he saw him, he would do it regardless."
That was one part of the story.
John found himself believing what Puffer had to say, he couldn't be biased right now since he did purposely seek him out. That and the fact that he openly admitted to be prepared to sell Droid his whole body, which is not something people usually admit.
"It probably didn't help that I had to hold him down for his tattoo, too." Puffer sniffled. "Bosses orders."
Puffer seemed to pause for a moment, before looking up at John.
"I hate my life, I hate everything it's come down too. You have no idea how many times I thought I'd end it all, but refrained just in hope to see Smit again, okay, and out of harms way." Puffer looked at him with a seriousness he'd never seen from the man before.
"So many times, so many failed suicide attempts, you have to help me! I don't want this anymore, I can't have friends, I have to be careful about who I talk to, because the conversation might end with a glock to my forehead."
John was not expecting this out of the encounter, frankly he was hoping for it to be calmer.
"I was SO FUCKING STUPID to think any of this was a good idea, and it came back to bite me in the ass more than one could count."
John slid off his bike, and slowly made his way to Puffer. This is the stupidest decision he's ever made.
"Don't shoot me." He mumbled, walking up to Puffer.
"I won't! I don't want to hurt anyone anymore! I've seen so many people who I thought were my friends die just because of accusations!" The way Puffers body locked up, before he lowered his head to look smaller next to John, told him he was being sincere.
As soon as John moved his hands away from himself to comfort Puffer, he flew off his bike, and clung onto John, crying into his chest.
Not exactly how he thought this day would go.
~ A/N ~
Puffers not evil! I lied! hehehehehe! Sorry if this took longer, I was working on something else, which none of you will probably see, so yeahhhh.
-Fun Fact(s)-
Puffer is actually really good at hiding emotions to the point where everyone thinks he's just always happy with his actions.
I write mainly at night!
There is always 3-4 drafts before I publish one chapter.
Puffer and Smit are very close personality wise, to the point that I fucked up a few times remembering who I was writing.
