Chapter 7

There was a soft knock at the door and the sound of both Miss Melody's and Miss Delights voices came through.
"Catnap, Dogday. Come along now dears its 1:00 and the children need to have lunch and some playtime before their afternoon classes start"
Slowly I woke and looked down at Dogday who was still softly snoring and quietly sleeping, holding me in his arms. I tried to get up slowly but apparently even in his sleep he was determined to protect me, so in the end I pushed him out of my bed and he landed on the playmat floor with a soft thud and... didn't wake up... how!?.

Rolling my eyes I got up and walked over to the door, opening it and letting Miss Melody and Miss Delight, they want around opening the windows and slowly waking the children, who were all very excited and energetic, waking up with big smile on there faces but then you had the few that wanted to stay asleep, they would walk over to me and try to convince me to let them go back to sleep and that they didn't want to go to there afternoon classes. Which was absolutely adorable but sadly I had to say no to them. Only because both the teachers were giving me glares that very clearly said 'if you say yes we're going to kick you where the sun don't shine'. I sighed. Walking with some of the children outside and watching them play as the teachers finished waking the others. Sometime later when all the children were outside Miss Delight came to stand next to me with Miss Melody standing on the other side of me
"Soo Catnap mine telling us why Dogday's passed out on the floor?"

Miss Delight asked me with an accusatory tone, giving me the side eye and standing awfully straight when she normally had a bit of a hunch to her poster. Miss Melody on the other hand was looking at me with a very wide hungry smile. I mean I know their smiles are set in place and they can't change how big their smiles are but damn. I could have sworn I saw hers grow just a little bit bigger.
"Yes darling I would love to know why your dear friend is on the floor~"
She said a musical undertone laced her voice and made listening to her just a little bit creeper than normal. Well shit. Where's Dogday when you need him... well when I need him.

As if one of the children heard my thoughts a fight broke out prompting both teachers and three or four more of Miss Delights sisters to come running to the seen, allowing me to slip away back to the Naptime room where, sure enough, Dogday was still passed out in the floor in the same position he fell out of the bed in. I sighed then went around closing all the curtains and blinds before hopping back into my Napping bed, dragging Dogday in with me. Who, somehow still didn't wake up.
"H-how d-d-do yo-you sl-sleep t-t-though all t-th-this"

"Simple I'm not asleep"
"AHHHHHHH WHAT THE FAIR"
I jumped out of the bed landing on all fours with my fur standing on each and my papules turning to slits, Dogday peeked his head off the side of the bed and laughed. His eyes were full of sleep and his fur was unity and everywhere but a smile lit up his eyes and laughter played on his face.
"Sorry Catnap I didn't mean to scare you but I couldn't help it. Hearing you talk is a pretty rare thing and hearing you talk to yourself is pretty funny so...."
I stood up hissed at him then left the Naptime room slamming the door behind me, ignoring Dogday's protest and apologies. For an hour I played with the children and even got to know two of the smiling critters all the while ignoring Dogday which he didn't seem to like but he did do anything about it
"Hey Catnap?"
I turned to look at CraftyCorn, who was standing with both Hoppy Hopscotch and PickyPiggy all three of the girls looked unimpressed and Hoppy looked like she was ready to throw hands with me but I smiled and nodded at them, prompting them to continue, Hoppy scoffed, Picky rolled her eyes, sighed then nudged crafty who looked disappointed

"Why did they let a smiling critter who can't even talk yet into the playcare, let alone being around the poor children.-"
She sighed, putting a hoff to her head and shaking it, well damn that was rude it's not like i've ever done anything to them or the children... On the contrary, I've never even spoken to them.
" anyways we wanted to know why you've been ignoring Dogday, I know your knew and everything but no one ignores Dogday not even the staff, so why are You. hmmm.
So that's what this is all about, damn that's awfully petty. I rolled my eyes and turned to walk away only to be stopped by the fourth girl of the smiling critters and supposedly the kindest one, Bobby BearHug. Oh for the love of all that's unholy and holy why do these girls have a hard on for Dogday.
"Pl-pleas-e m-move"

I asked nicely trying to keep the stutter out of my voice as much as I could but to no one's surprise it didn't work very well and all four of the girls started laughing at me. We were fair enough away from the schoolhouse that none of the children, teachers and other three critters to see what was going on and I just wanted to go to bed, was that too much to ask, I mean reader Is it really to muc-

(nope, nuh uh no breaking the fourth wall this time. Come on Dogday did it in the last chapter you are not going to do it to Catnap)
"oh come off it Vickeeee214 I did it once"
(yeah one too many times nope it's not happening again, don't even try and sway me Dogday)
"Fine come on catnap let's get back to the store"
Catnap nods

I mean I know I sleep all the time but.
"We're waiting for our answer Catnap, why are you ignoring Dogday"
Hoppy said still looking ready to throw hands at any moment, now the other three shared the same expression, I sighed, laid down on the ground, curled up and closed my eyes going to sleep and confusing the hell out of the four girls, evenly they walked away mostly back off to the school house. After getting up there was the sound of soft footsteps then someone jumped on me and covered my eyes
"Guess who!"
"Dogday I-i know it's y-y-you"
