chapter 31; aftercare

As if on queue, Levi stirs beside you and you feel his movements gradually becoming more pronounced, signaling his return to consciousness. With a faint groan, he blinks his eyes open, his gaze momentarily unfocused before gradually coming back into focus.

You offer him a warm smile, trying to dispel any lingering tension or awkwardness that might linger between you and pretend you weren't just about to throw up from overthinking, "Good morning," you greet him as nonchalantly as possible, your voice laced with a hint of amusement.

Levi's eyes dart towards you. It seems he too was caught by surprise as he glanced down the sheets at your body, before politely looking away as he realized the situation, a ghost of a blush forming on his face. "Morning," he replies, his voice still husky with sleep, which made your insides melt.

You couldn't help but notice the slight tension in the air, so you decided to break it with a light-hearted comment, trying to make light of the mess you two had inadvertently created.

"Looks like we made quite a mess, huh?" you remarked with a playful grin, gesturing towards the scattered clothing and disheveled sheets that adorned the room.

Levi sat up, his gaze followed yours, and for a moment, he seemed taken aback by the sight. His expression was a mix of surprise and mild disbelief as he surveyed the aftermath of your night together.

"Yeah, I guess we did," he finally replied, his voice carrying a hint of amusement. Despite the unexpected turn of events, there was a flicker of warmth in his eyes as he glanced back at you.

Levi settled back down under the covers, the weight of the silence still lingering between you. You, feeling the need to fill the void, awkwardly broached the subject.

"So, um... how was it? Did you... enjoy yourself?" you asked tentatively, your voice laced with uncertainty.

Levi's gaze softened as he turned to look at you, "Yeah, I did," he admitted quietly, his tone steady but sincere.

A wave of relief washed over you at his response, a smile tugging at your lips. "And... did I do okay?" you pressed, unable to shake off your nerves entirely.

A small semblance of a smile played across his face as he absent mindedly reached out to gently brush a strand of hair from your face. "You were perfect," he assured you, his voice warm with affection. "In fact, that's the best sleep I've gotten in years."

"Whew!" You said jokingly for dramatic effect, although it was honestly quite a relief to hear. You had never been so vulnerable with someone like this before, so you were admittedly still terrified. Levi watched you with an amused expression, a rare glint of warmth in his eyes.

"How was it for you?" he asked, his tone casual but interested.

You grinned, feeling a mix of satisfaction and a playful sense of accomplishment. "Pretty great, actually. I mean, it's not every day you get to make a mess like this," you gestured around the room.

Curiosity nagging at you, you couldn't help but inquire about Levi's past experiences. "So, uh, I mean, you seemed to know what you were doing pretty well. Is this something you're... well-versed in?" you asked, trying to keep your tone light despite the weight of the question.

Levi kept his expression steady and shrugged. "I've had my share of experiences, mostly when I lived underground," he admitted, his voice tinged with a hint of contemplation. "But it's never been a priority for me. I've never actively sought it out or cared much for it... until now," he added, glancing at you.

A mischievous glint sparkled in your eyes as you probed a bit further. "Never had a partner who could keep up, huh?" you teased, testing the waters.

Levi shot you a sidelong glance, a faint smirk playing on his lips. "Something like that," he admitted, a subtle admission that spoke volumes.
