“Katherine killed her granddaughter?!” I ask Emma.
“Yes! I knew I recognized her from somewhere. Then it dawned on me that it was the news. The news covered it for a whole week,” she tells me.
Emma called me earlier that day and said she had something real important to tell me and she sounded very serious about it, so I invited her over.
“Now that I think about it, on the night of the accident Aaliyah’s phone was ringing and I saw Katherine’s name pop up on screen. I reached over to get it because Aaliyah was super drunk. Then I skid off the road,” I recall and Emma gasps.
“Oh my gosh! That’s crazy! Are you gonna write Katherine back?”
“No... I’m just gonna stop all contact with her. I really wanna leave my past in the past.”
“I don’t blame you. This is too weird,” Emma said and I agreed with her.
I picked up all the letters from Katherine, got a lighter, and lit them all on fire. We watched them burn for a minute before I put the fire out.
“Okay... Now that that’s gone, I feel better now,” I admit, laying back on the couch.
“Yup. Now let’s discuss the wedding details,” Emma says and we spend the next 2 hours going over details for their upcoming wedding.
