I walked up to Ezra's home before I took a deep breath and knocked on the front door, my heart pounding against my ribcage.

Stomping footsteps came from behind the door before they paused and the door opened with a whoosh, revealing Ezra shirtless and wearing grey sweatpants that hung onto his hips.

"What the hell do y- Oh Avalon." He caught himself before he looked down at me and slightly stepped to the side, allowing me entrance into his beautiful home. "I'm sorry. I thought you were someone else.." Ezra trailed his words off before I shook my head.

"It's fine, I'm a little early anyways." I spoke in a soft tone before I heard slow footsteps making way towards me and Ezra in the door way. I turned to see a very sickly looking Vera. My heart tinged in pain at the sight of her, my eyes threatening to well up with tears.

"Avalon! what a surprise my love!" Vera spoke in a weak and strained voice before we wrapped our arms around each other, her weak body felt brittle in my arms.

"Hi Vera.. I'm so sorry I've been away for so long.." I attempted to hold back my tears as we slowly broke our embrace. Vera shaking her scarf covered head with a smile draw crossed her face.

"Hush darling! College life can be hectic, I'm just glad you're here..." Vera seemingly confused by her last state before she looked at me and Ezra. "Wait why are you here? Did something happen on campus?" Her voice started to sound worried.

Ezra stepped up beside me and sneakily wrapped his arm around my waist, causing me to slightly jump. "Mom she's fine. I do have something to tell you though."

Vera almost looked confused and shocked as she looked at Ezra's hand on my hip. I tried to keep a neutral face, holding whatever disgust that I held towards him, before he began speaking again.

"Me and Avalon are dating." Ezra words came out slowly as if he was trying to gauge how his mother would react. A huge smile broke out across Vera's face.

"Oh my! this is wonderful news! how long has this been going on for?" She looks between us both excited for an answer. I quickly piped up before Ezra could speak.

"Well it's fairly new..We just wanted to tell you first." I smiled softly, a pain in my chest pinged as the lies rolled off my tongue. Vera seemed to believe me and hugged us both.

"I'm so happy for you too, I always knew you guys would end up together one day." She teased us as we pulled from the hug and I quickly changed the subject.

"Hey why don't we go catch up? I've really missed talking to you these past couple months." I said as I grabbed Vera's hand and we made our way to the living room, I shot a quick glare at Ezra as we left and he smirked in response.

•2 hours later•

I pulled a blanket over Vera's sleeping body before I got up off the couch, slowly enough to not disturb her before I walked to the front door quietly.

"Going somewhere princesa?" Ezra slightly slurring his speech as he slowly began walking down the stairs near the front door.

"God Ezra. You're drunk. I'm going home." I rolled my eyes as I got to the door and placed my hand on the door. I felt a presence behind me before I felt two hands grasp my hips from behind.

"Oh come on.. We all have our fixes mami.." Ezra said in a low husky voice before I scoffed and pushed his hands off of me and turned to him.

"Somethings never change. Goodnight Ezra." I quickly opened the door and swiftly made my exit before I rushed to my car, got inside and locked it before
I sped off. My heart raced in my chest as I made my way back to my house.

Ten minutes later I arrived at my house, pulling into the drive way and put my car in park. I sat in my car, my mind filled with thoughts of what had transpired at Ezra's. In that moment, I wanted to just disappear from the world.

I got out of my car and saw drunk people littering my front yard. I stepped over the red solo cups in the yard before I got to the front door and opened it, getting hit with the smell of weed and alcohol. I repressed the vomit in my throat from spilling into my mouth before I began pushing past people in the living room.

I made it to the stairs and walked up to the second floor, not even bothering to look for Asher to scold him. The day had drained me too much for more confrontation. I got to my room and walked in before shutting the door and locking it behind me.

I pressed my back up against the door, letting out a heavy sigh, my head feeling heavy.

"What the hell have I gotten myself into."
