Act 4: Scene 5: first draft finished

The scene is set in a bustling bird shop filled with vibrant feathers and cheerful chirping. ELIZABETH enters the shop with MOM. They walk towards the grooming area, where a groomer is tending to a vibrant array of birds.

ELIZABETH

Mom, let's check out the birds here! I always love visiting Orla's.

ELIZABETH's mother smiles and nods, sharing in her excitement. They stroll through the shop, admiring the colorful avian residents.

MIKA chirps excitedly as she spots something across the room. Elizabeth follows Mika's gaze and notices MIKA's cousin DIAMOND and twin brother LILO perched on a nearby branch, observing the busy surroundings.

ELIZABETH

(astonished)

Mika, I didn't expect to see them here! This is incredible!

Elizabeth approaches the groomer, her curiosity piqued.

ELIZABETH

(inquisitively)

Excuse me, could you tell me about the big sick bird over there? It has the same mark as Mika.

GROOMER

(smiling)

Oh, that's normal! It's part of her process of growing up. Don't worry; she'll be just fine.

Elizabeth breathes a sigh of relief, reassured by the groomer's words. She turns her attention back to MIKA, DIAMOND, and LILO.

ELIZABETH

(to Mika)

Mika, look! Your cousin and twin brother are here! How amazing is that?

Mika's eyes brighten, and she chirps happily in response. She hops closer to DIAMOND and LILO, her feathers shimmering with excitement. Diamond, noticing Mika's presence, gives her a quick glance before returning to her own observations. On the other hand, Lilo's eyes light up with joy.

LILO

(chirping excitedly)

Mika! Mika! Look, I came to find you!

LILO inches closer to MIKA, their feathers gently brushing against each other. MIKA chirps softly, expressing her delight at seeing Lilo again.

ELIZABETH

Mika, it's wonderful to see you reunited with your family. They must have missed you.

MOM observes the heartwarming scene, her eyes filled with warmth and affection.

ELIZABETH'S MOTHER

(whispering)

They really are a special family. Look at how they interact with each other.

Elizabeth and her mother take a step back, allowing MIKA, DIAMOND, and LILO to reconnect and enjoy each other's company. The shop's lively atmosphere provides the perfect backdrop for their reunion.

As MIKA, DIAMOND, and LILO chirp and flutter together, ELIZABETH and MOM watch with smiles on their faces. They appreciate the deep bond between the birds, recognizing the importance of family and connection in the avian world.

ELIZABETH

They remind us of the beauty and strength of nature. It's incredible to witness their reunion.

MOM nods in agreement, silently appreciating the enchanting scene unfolding before them.
