The shrill sound of the alarm clock pierced through the quiet morning, jolting Aurora awake. She groaned, swatting at the offending noise with one hand while the other blindly fumbled for the snooze button. After a few attempts, she managed to silence the alarm, only to realize she had overslept again.

Rolling over in bed, Aurora squinted at the clock and let out another groan. "Ugh, not again," she muttered to herself, pushing the tangled strands of her curly hair away from her face.

About twenty minutes later Simone knocked gently on the bedroom door before stepping inside.
"Rory, wake up. You're going to be late for school," Simone called out, her voice carrying a mix of concern and amusement. Aurora mumbled something unintelligible into her pillow, prompting Simone to approach and gently shake her shoulder.

"Come on, Rory. You need to get up." Simone urged and with another groan, Aurora finally gave in and swung her legs over the edge of the bed. She rubbed her eyes, attempting to shake off the remnants of sleep making Simone chuckled before leaving the room satisfied as Aurora dragged herself out of bed and trudged to the bathroom to splash cold water on her face and quickly go through her morning routine. After brushing through her wild curls, she took a moment to appreciate the chaos that was her natural hair before sighing and moving on to get dressed. After doing so, she re-entered her room, gathering her schoolbooks and stuffing them into her backpack. Simone waited patiently by the door, a knowing smile on her face.

"Coffee?" Simone offered, holding out a steaming mug causing Aurora's eyes to lit up at the sight of the coffee.
"You're a lifesaver, Simone." Aurora thanked appreciatively taking the mug gratefully, savoring the warmth. As they headed downstairs together Aurora thanked Simone for the coffee and Simone gave her a reassuring side hug before Aurora grabbed her jacket and headed out the door.

After arriving at the school, Aurora hurried through the bustling hallways of Mystic Falls High School, backpack slung over one shoulder as she navigated her way to Alaric's classroom. She could feel the weight of her classmates' curious gazes as she rushed in, and when she entered the room, all eyes turned toward her.

"Sorry I'm late, Mr. Saltzman," Aurora apologized, her gaze sheepishly meeting Alaric's. As she looked at him, a strange sensation washed over her. There was something off in his eyes, a subtle change that left her feeling uneasy. Confused, she furrowed her eyebrows, trying to decipher the peculiar look.
"No worries, Aurora. Have a seat," Alaric spoke, gesturing towards an empty desk. Aurora nodded and quickly made her way to her seat near Elena and Bonnie, glancing back at Alaric to find him still watching her.

The oddity continued when Alaric addressed her by her full name – Aurora – a departure from the usual "Rory" that her friends, including him, used. She found it peculiar but chose to dismiss it for the moment. Shaking off her concerns, she caught Elena's eye.
"Everything okay?" Elena mouthed concerned at Aurora's perplexed expression, Aurora nodded in response before she exchanged a small smile with Stefan, who sat nearby, before turning her attention back to Alaric. Alaric, seemingly flustered, tried to regain control of the class.
