The crisp night air hung heavy around the Salvatore boarding house as Elena and Aurora stood on the steps in front of Stefan. Their faces twisted in a mix of fury, shock, and disbelief.

"What are you?" Elena repeated her voice slightly trembling as she tried to maintain her composure as her eyes bore into Stefan's, demanding the truth.
"You both know," Stefan meets the two girls gazes almost like he was nervous himself.
"No, we don't." Aurora retorted frustrated, sure part of her did but she needed to hear it from him, confirmation of the impossible truth.

"Yes, you do, or you wouldn't be here." Stefan concluded
"It's not possible. It can't be." Elena denied shaking her head, her voice flattering as she no doubt tried to grapple with the unimaginable revelation.
"Everything you know... And every belief that you have is about to change. Are you ready for that?" Stefan questioned causing Aurora to furrow her eyebrows in response before speaking again.
"What are you?" Aurora questioned impatiently.

"I'm a vampire." Stefan answered the young girl glancing over at her causing her to become shocked that she was right all along.
"We shouldn't have come." Elena dismissed the boy and in a panic movement she grabs Aurora's hand, urging her to leave as they turn to head back to their car.
"No, please." Stefan begged his voice pleading before he swiftly appeared in front of them, causing them to halt in shock.

"No. No," Elena exasperated
"How did you do that?" Aurora wondered her curiosity piquing through her fears.
"Please don't be afraid of me." Stefan reassured calmly.
"Let us go," Elena pleaded desperately.
"No. There's things that you guys have to know and understand." Stefan informed the girls in a gentle yet firm tone.
"Let us go!" Elena ordered in a more frantic voice.
"Elena, please -" Stefan began to reach out to the two girls but they quickly scrambled away towards their car. Elena quickly gets in the passenger seat and Aurora in the driver's seat, Aurora glances in the rearview mirror one last time at Stefan, her eyes reflecting disbelief before she accelerates, speeding away from the haunting truth they just discovered.

Before Aurora could even speak a word to Elena once they got home, the girl ran to her bedroom in a hurry this caused Aurora to stumble into her own room, her mind swirling with disbelief and confusion. As well as a sense of guilt for turning Elena's life upside down. She was finally happy with Stefan, and she had to just go and ruin it. But Aurora knew it's what she had to do, Elena deserved to know the truth even if it hurt her. Because she knew her cousin and if she withheld the truth, Elena would never forgive her.

But that didn't stop Aurora's thoughts from running rapid. So after the girl entered her bedroom she closed the door behind her and leaned against it, trying to steady her racing thoughts. She didn't know what to think.

"What is real and what is fake?" The questions echoed in her mind, resonating with a deep sense of betrayal. "What else had she been lied to about?" The uncertainty gnawed at her, clawing its way into every corner of her consciousness.
