CHAPTER 26: TO WAIT

Quinn's POV

"You're still waiting for her huh?" Krysta asked after taking a sip on her wine.

"Bakit naman hindi?" Nakangiting tanong ko saka tinungga ang natitirang wine sa wineglass ko.

"It's been six years." Krysta remarked like she's making me remember how long those years was. "Not yet tired of waiting?" Tanong pa niya habang nagsasalin ng wine sa baso ko.

"'Will never be tired." I chuckled and lifted my glass before taking a sip from it.

Ang daming nangyari sa loob ng anim na taon. Mr. Quezon Gonzalez was sentenced for thirty-five years in prison. Clio and Cora got married for business purposes, but Miss Fabroa came back with a child, which is Clio's child. And I think Clio and Cora are planning to have a divorce now. Ashley is already married, same with my sister Nikita. Meanwhile, Briar, Maddie, and I are still single.

"I'm sorry for asking such questions. We should be celebrating the success of De Luca Vineyard, right?" Pag-iiba ng topic ni Krysta. Mabuti naman nakaramdam siya.

"To more years of success." Nilapit ko sa kanya ang wine glass ko, asking for a toss.

"To more years of working with Ms. De Luca, the CEO of De Luca Vineyard." She added and it made me feel flattered. Namula yata ang aking pisngi. She doesn't need to mention that but here she goes. Siguro ay proud lang siya dahil lagi siyang nandito at nagtatrabaho na siya sa'kin.

Our wine glass clicked and we both took a sip from our glass. We smiled at each other. Krysta has always been there for me and I appreciate her so much. It's nice to have a friendship without malice.

We are in an event held by the Lopez'. All the business tycoons, entrepreneur, and other socialite are here. This type of event is a haven for businessman or woman but not for me. I'd rather sleep in my house. I feel like my social skills are slowly fading since I took my life seriously. I'm only comfortable now when I'm around my friends.

"I'll just use the comfort room." Paalam ni Krysta na tinanguan ko lang.

I looked around. Everyone is busy to socialize. Different type of people are trying to connect with each other to build an alliance for their own profit. Halatang-halata ang iba sa pakikipag-plastikan. This is the downside of the corporate world. Hindi mo alam kung sino yung hihila sa'yo pataas at yung titira sa'yo patalikod.

Bored na ako. Ang tagal ni Krysta gumamit ng comfort room. Tinext ko siya at sinabing mauuna na akong umuwi. It's still early pero wala na rin naman akong gagawin pa sa party.

Instead of going home, I decided to visit a place where memories were made. Pinuntahan ko ang stone house na ilang buwan ko ring hindi nabisita.

Maraming kalat na tuyong dahon sa harapan ng bahay. Ang mga halaman sa paligid ay halos mamatay na sa sobrang tuyo. Pumasok ako gamit ang susi na binigay ni Savi noong huling beses kaming mag-usap. I bitterly smiled after remembering how much we poured our heart that night.

After a week of no contact with Savi, Clark showed up. Napalunok ako nang makita itong nakatindig sa pinto habang sinusuyod ng kanyang mata ang silid. His eyes landed on mine. Kakaibang kaba ang sumilay sa aking dibdib. Nandito ba siya para bugbugin ulit ako? Kagagaling lang ng mga pasa at sugat ko dahil sa pambubugbog niya. 

Tinanguan niya ako, tila gusto akong lumapit. I stayed on my chair. Natatakot ako, baka bigla akong sapakin. Dumaan si Ash sa gilid niya. Kinausap niya ito at maya-maya ay nilapitan na ako ni Ash.

"Gusto ka raw makausap ng lalaki." Wika ni Ash sa'kin. "Kilala mo 'yon? In all fairness, gwapo." Dagdag nito habang nangingiti.

"Pinsan ni Savi." Saad ko saka tumayo bitbit ang aking backpack.
