The ground starts to shake. I think that's my signal from Xander. Though the earth is trembling, it is not too much as to cause any harm to anyone. But it is enough to cause panic among the people to create a distraction. Taking my cue, I take off on Rex. I cannot go to the signal fire lest they follow me and catch us.

According to the plan, I lead Rex to the border. At a distance, I see Zayden's car. I land and wait for them to emerge from the tunnels. I can't take Rex with me. It pains me to think I'll have to leave Rex here alone.

Zayden and Xander appear, interrupting my thoughts. They hop into the car, and we take off.

"That was a good distraction," I appreciate Xander. He sighs in response. I glance back at him and find him shivering.

"Are you okay?" I ask, concerned. I don't want to forgive him yet, but something in me tells me that he did have no clue about Einri's real intentions.

"I'm alright. I just used a lot of my power," he explains.

"Rest up, we have a long way to go," Zayden replies.
