"Doc!" Peter called out, his hand cupped.

His eyes scanned his surroundings, searching for his one and only companion, however, the longer he looked, the more alone he realized he was. Every step he took, seemed to echo throughout this pink soaked mall, bouncing off every tile and surface.

He looked up towards the ceiling he fell through, expecting to see where he came from.

The blue channel.

And surely, Doctor Percivalle would still be floating there...

But no...

When Peter looked back up, all he saw were ceiling tiles, blocking his view, and trapping him inside.

He sighed to himself and shook his head as his current situation began to set in.

He had been traveling with Percivalle for what felt like weeks on end, and now they finally got separated.

He wasn't afraid, however, the sense of insecurity in this place was no longer there. He knew his chances with or without the doctor were exactly the same. Yet, he couldn't help but wonder, why now?

Why would the Backrooms wait all this time to separate the two of them?

Unable to find a clear explanation, Peter took a deep breath and accepted his current situation. He would have to continue on his own.

So, he gave a determined nod to himself and turned around to face the new place before him. As he slowly walked between the tables in the strange food court, he couldn't help but take in the visual presentation of this place.

This place, was perhaps the most nostalgic by far.

The way the pink neon lights shimmered off every surface, complimented by the occasional strip of light blue. It looked like the Backrooms looked at a mall from the eighties, but didn't quite understand the purpose of them. As he kept walking, he followed the path away from the food court, connecting to the rest of the complex. Each store he passed by was the same with indiscernable signage posted around, making it impossible for Peter to guess what these stores were actually meant for.

He continued walking, until reaching the end of the hallway, coming to a rail, overlooking a lower level of this place. Peter glanced to his left and saw a set of escalators that, somehow, had enough power to work. So, he headed straight for it and started riding the escalator downward, mumbling song to homself that this place reminded him of.

"We're talking away!" He sang to himself in a low hum, taking in the pretty lights that hung all around him. "I don't know what I'm to say -I'll say it anyway. Today is another day to find you, Shyin' away. Oh, I'll be comin' for your love, okay."

Peter paused at the very bottom of the escalator. He looked around, only to find that the bottom floor was even more massive than the top floor. With towering hallways going in all four directions.

He could already tell that this place was going to take a lot of time for him to cross. So with a deep breath, he started his march. It didn't matter to him which direction he chose. He knew well enough by now that in here, such a thing did not matter. As he walked for miles upon miles through the endless mall, he felt different than last time he was alone. No longer was he riddled with fear, guilt, shame, loss, or anything else. Percivalle's words of wisdom often popping up in his head to ease his turmoil.

The man was strange, for sure, but Peter never could have expected a random encounter with a stranger to hold such wisdom.

Wisdom that made such a daunting task seem doable. The prospect of returning to the Titans, returning to Raven, seemed actually possible now. Even though, he wasn't sure how he would escape, his optimism seemed reinvigorated.
