Chapter 18

Beth’s POV

Pumayag naman ang nurse niya na palabasin siya dito sa hospital kahit saglit.

nagdadalawang isip naman ako kung lalabas pa kami o hindi.

Nagpromise naman siya na kaya niya,

I guided him to going out,

And we waited for a taxi.

After a few minutes, may dumating naman,

I told the driver to drop us down at the nearest park,

We reached the park after 10 minutes,

He opened the door for me,

Ang ganda ng park, ang daming mababango na amoy,

I could smell fresh flowers,

Tapos may amoy ng baked bread,

Pero yun pinaka mabango na naamoy ko was his scent…

Naglakad lakad kami, holding hands, syempre,

Hanggang sinabi niya na pagod na siya…

We sat on a bench, farther away from the public eye.

“Beth, can we sleep here?” he asked, tapos he tilted his head para humiga sa shoulder ko…

“Don’t sleep here, we can go back to the hospital kung nanghihina ka na,” I said…

Ito na ba?

The moment that I was longing not to happen…

Obviously, he didn’t listen to me, pinikit niya mata niya…

“Beth, mahal na mahal kita,” he whispered…

“I love you too,” I tried not to cry, pero tumulo parin luha ko..

“What was the best memories you had with me?” he asked…

“best memories? Every single second I spent with you was the best,” I answered, and he smiled.

“Ganun? Did you ever regret picking me?”

I sighed and answered, “Nope, I never did,”

“Alam mo, hindi ako mawawala sa tabi mo, I’ll always be there for you, I’ll watch over you, guard you,” he told me…

“Really? That’s great,” I said, I was silently crying…

“Pagod na ako, Beth, gusto ko magpahinga, matutulog na ako,” he weakly said…

This was the moment.

I had to let him go.

He’s tired.

He needs to rest, for good.

Love is sacrifice.

But I would never change him for anyone.

I nodded, and he slowly closed his eyes.
