This was a complete shock to Ahalya. Not in her wildest dreams had she thought of something like this. She was confused. She had so many questions in mind. Who were her parents? What happened to her mother? Who would have killed her? She was just an infant? Why did her grandparents not want to be contacted? There were to many who, why, what how? She felt like she was just so happy not knowing any of this but her heart just stopped in fear with her next thought. What if? What if Shankar does not want the Ahalya who is actually Angeline? Will Saraswathi change her mind?
Ahalya got up. She felt dizzy. She wobbled towards the backyard and threw up. She drew water from the well and splashed it on her face and just stood there in shock. She wanted to cry but felt no emotions. She was numb.
Just then she felt something on her ankle. She looked down to find Shankar wrapping the anklets around her ankles. He snapped them tight and looked up at her.
