Heartbreak Anniversary

Part 2

I was finally done with my last class of the day, this semester I mainly had morning classes and was happy as I could spend the rest of day working on my showcase. I decided the end of freshman year that since I'm in college I should peruse my passion for art... my father would chop my head off if he ever found out I majored in Art & Media 

It was a hard decision as I know everyone would be disappointed but then I reminded myself that this might be the only time in my life where I could embrace who I am before my father forces me somewhere in his company 

"Where is Imani?" Alex asked as we walked to meet Cassidy at a our favorite lunch spot 

"She has mock trail and is studying" I answered as we turned the corner and came up to the cafe

As we were about to enter the shop we found Cassidy in a deep make out session with a fairly tall pale skinned man. Alex and I looked at each in disgust as we watched our friend inform the entire city that she dates the Nets worldwide star player, Kai Fairfield 

Alex cleared her throat causing both of them to stop their pda and shamelessly look at us, "hello ladies" Kai sheepishly said 

"Hi Kai" Alex and I said at the same time waving at the man

Honestly, him and Cassidy were cute. Kai graduated last year from NYU, he was a sports medicine major and we were good friends since we shared lots of mutuals and I helped him pass math. The day he meet Cassidy, I swear the dudes jaw dropped to the floor. He never left me alone until I got him to meet her, I knew he was Cassidy type but I enjoyed playing cupid and messing with him for a while

Kai reminded me of my younger brother Rj, he was clueless in everything but still somehow a romantic. Ever since I got them to meet they became inseparable and now they're going on 2 years of dating 

"I'll see you later" Cassidy whispered to Kai before giving him a goodbye kiss 

Once he left we walked inside and sat at our signature booth, "how does it feel to date a celebrity Case?" Alex suddenly asked causing the poor girl to blush 

"He's a normal person Alex... don't make it seem weird" she said 

They were still new in their relationship but Cassidy was a sweet girl. I only pray Kai never breaks her heart... because the day he does I'll kill him

"Anyways, what plans do you guys have today?" Cassidy asked as she looked at the menu 

I didn't have much going on, I was mainly preparing for my art showcase that was happening in the next coming months. It was going to be my biggest project and something I'd been working on all summer. Alex started talking about the modeling gigs she had gotten recently, one day when were out shopping an agent stopped her and straight up recruitered her. We thought it was a scame but it turned out to be legit 

"What day is the showcase?" Alex asked me as we ordered some drinks 

"March 25th" I answered 

Our waiter came over and gave us all our drinks, I decided on coffee since today was going to be long. I had to visit the venue with my manger then head to the store for some last minute supplies, everything was ready except my final piece. I still had no idea what I wanted to paint and had been in a stump for the past month 

"Kai got us tickets to his game next weekend" Cassidy added causing me to snap out of my thoughts

Alex started clapping as she loved going to the Net games, she would say its the perfect opportunity to take amazing photos and get invited to cool parties. I always rolled my eyes at that assumption as I found the games to be regular events, we normally went so Cassidy wouldn't be alone 

Since Kai was two years older and had graduated we didn't want Cassidy hanging with random groups of people bored out of her mind. We were only sophomores at the time and it was weird if she went alone even though we trust Kai would take care of her... girl code meant we make sure everyone is safe

"You know I am there" Alex cheered before drinking her cranberry juice 

I smiled at her antics and felt my phone buzz, taking it out from my purse I saw message from my manager Joy. She had left me three texts and called me twice. I ran my hair through my hair before collecting my things, Cassidy and Alex looked at me worried but I had no time too explain as I had to rush to the studio

"I hate to leave early but Joy needs me at the studio" I answered as they wore a concerned expression

"Okay, hope everything is alright" Alex announced as I waved goodbye 

Rushing out the small cafe, I put my hand out for the first taxi. Our studio was all the way in Harlem and I had to head home first before I got on the train. I began texting her that I was on my way, apparently somebody else booked the same venue as me for the same night... 

Just a normal day in the city, I told myself. I left Imani a message that I might be home late depending on how long this takes. I still had other errands to run and wasn't expecting an issue to arise today
