I was still upset at my mum for thinking that I should tell Jobe about my illness, it was none of his business. He was too busy with Bella to even notice anything either way. I bet he wouldn't even care if his best friend was dying that is, if I'm still his best friend
On Monday I had an appointment with my oncologist - Dr Davis.
"The good news is that the cancer hasn't spread anywhere else" Dr Davis said to me and my mum
"And the bad news?" I asked
"Your condition shows no signs of improvement" Dr Davis said
My mum looked down trying to hide her tears. I couldn't cry, matter of fact, I had felt so much in the beginning, eventually I started to feel nothing.
The ride back from the hospital was quiet but I found comfort in the silence. I was not in the mood to listen to one of my mum's "you can do this" speeches.
The chemo was wearing me out, I felt tired everyday, every hour, every minute. I thought about quitting the chemo but my parents would never agree to that. The treatment was just a waste of money, I was gonna die either way but I understood why they didn't want me to quit, I was their only child.
I didn't sit Jobe anymore in the cafeteria. I just went to the library and read until lunch was over.
Jude asked me to come to their house on saturday which I thought was weird but I agreed to come anyway.
Saturday rolled around and by 3 pm I was at the Bellingham residence.
I rung the bell and Jobe answered the door.
"Hey, I didn't know that we are hanging out today" Jobe said
"We aren't, I'm here for Jude" I deadpanned
Jobe looked at me suspiciously and he was about to say something, but before he could Jude yelled
"Josie, you are here" and took my hand and led me inside the house and took me to his room and closed the door
"What do you want" I said
"What do you mean? Can't I hang out with you?" Jude said
"We have never hung out before", I said
"When were you gonna tell me?" Jude said
"Tell you what?", I asked acting oblivious but I knew what he was talking about
"That you are sick goddammit", he raised his voice
"And then what? What's the point huh? Will you cure my cancer?" I yelled back
"No, but you're like my little sister. The thought of losing makes me lose my mind" he said, his voice was cracking and then he started cry. I have never seen Jude cry and honestly it kinda broke my heart. I stood up to hug him
"Don't worry I'm not going anywhere", I said while hugging him and he hugged me tighter. I knew that was a lie and deep down he knew it too.
Suddenly the door burst open and revealed a furious looking Jobe
"What the fuck is going on?" he yelled
