Alternate Timeline, Fuyuki Singularity, 2004
Rayshifting was weird.
In simple terms, it was making a projection of yourself and placing it in a certain place or period. It also followed the cliche that if this projection died, you would die in reality.
Needless to say, (Y/N) wouldn't undertake such an invasive process if he could help it. He chose to travel in the old-fashioned way: Locating and pursuing.
Once he saw the nearly-dead Mash rayshift, he simply traced her consciousness through memetic sensing and teleported to the same location. He had to work out a few tweaks and alibis in case the question was brought up, but he would figure it out. It was time to save the world one punch at a time.
The first thing (Y/N) noticed upon arriving in the Fuyuki of 2004 was that everything was on fire.
(Y/N): Damn, was there an alternate timeline where the Little Miss allowed me to carpet-bomb the city to win the Murder-Death-Kill? Nah, I'd remember it.
Shinketsu: No, you wouldn't. Arson is to you is like breathing is to humans to you at this point.
(Y/N): Yes, but this would be a special occasion. I didn't start the fire, it was always burning since the world's been turning, yeah?
After confirming that he (probably) wasn't the reason everything was burning, the second thing he did was break out into a fit of giggles for various reasons.
(Y/N): Actually Satan would be having a blast here, with this being hell and all that.
Shinketsu: We should find the girl before she too becomes a part of the gas leak problem, by the way.
(Y/N): *sigh* Fiiiiiine. It's not like there's anything to wreck that hasn't been wrecked already. Thoughts?
Shinketsu: There are eight Servants around, but only one of them reads a relatively normal Spirit Origin. The others are corrupted.
(Y/N): Man, don't tell me Angry Man Jew became a thing here. Then again, that justifies all the fires and, heh, the ashes.
Restraining himself from making even more jokes in poor taste, he set off amidst the burning city to find his newly appointed "Kouhai". However, he paused as soon as he sensed something was amiss.
(Y/N): ...You know, I'm an easy-going guy, but even I have a few buttons you can't press unless you wanna die. And one of those buttons you're pressing now?
Since there was nobody around, he ditched the normal human pretense and suddenly took off with the force of a ballistic missile. His outstretched hand crashed through a building and grabbed a relatively humanoid throat.
(Y/N): It's people thinking they can sneak up on me as if I can't see them.
It was one of the corrupted Servants. He couldn't discern their identity (not that he cared), but he could tell they were an Assassin.
(Y/N): Yeah, I know that you're an Assassin and it's kinda what you do, but at least make an attempt to run the ones before you try sneak tactics.
The blackened Assassin couldn't exactly respond as they were currently being dragged around the burning skyline by the throat. Even worse when (Y/N) decided that a building didn't look wrecked enough and decided to do something about it.
(Y/N): But this is my gift to you as my first ever "opponent" in this journey: A classic straight out of 2099!
These were the last words the Assassin barely managed to hear before (Y/N) struck the mother of all chokeslams on them through several stories of concrete and molten steel.
