Chapter 45: Hidden Husband

Start from the beginning

Realizing that I wasn't going to get out of his hold with brute strength, I tried to activate the smoke abilities and dissipate into smoke, but it stalled. I could feel the power sluggishly travel throughout my body, but before it reached the peak of activation it fizzled out. Crap, I can't use my powers.

"What did you inject me with?" I question steadily. I couldn't let him know that I was concerned or a devil fruit user now can I?

"MMmm, nothing much. Just a little concoction I requested from Dr. Hogeback. It's a sleeping draft mixed with a few ground sea prism elements. I didn't know if my future bride would be a devil fruit holder, and by the looks of your weakened struggles, I think it's a safe bet to say you are."

I huff in irritation. He's smarter than he looks. "I'm not in the market for marriage at the moment. Try again in a couple of years, and maybe I'll consider it if you let me go and return my sword."

"Hahaha," he laughed at my remark. "No need to be shy and play hard to get. I've chosen you to become my bride, so I'll always be with you from now on. We will be wed tonight! All of the preparations are nearly complete for the ceremony then we will be bound forever."

This didn't make any sense. Wasn't this man supposed to go after Nami?! That is this guy, right?

"Why me?" I question with a fake pout, still looking at the door I desperately wanted to walk through to leave.

"When I saw you on the ship, you were a beauty. Your long red hair, those Amber eyes, even your intelligence that you showed was impressive. Then after I left, I found out that you were a big shot, Amaya, the Sky Goddess. Gotta admit, goddess is a fitting name."

"Stalker. I bet you even peep in on others in the restroom with that ability of yours. You seem like the type."

"O-Only once!" He protested, turning me around to face him with a slightly blushing face. "Today." He mumbly finished.

I raised my eyebrow in response.

"I-It was the orange-headed girl from the crew you came with. I was considering making her your replacement when I figured it would be too difficult to get you away from the others. Then I chanced upon you in the hall and knew that it was fate." He hurriedly explained like I was actually concerned.

Did he actually think that I was worried that the 'man I'm about to marry' peeped on other girls? I'd never have to deal with that because first I'm not marrying this dude and second I'd pick a better man in the first place!

I shake my head. "What a waste of a cool ability." I sighed out. His ability would make life much easier in the future. I mean I could temporarily hide using the Illusion ability, but I have to constantly imagine the changes that go along with the scenery and it was exhausting. If only I could copy his somehow. Would it even work with my powers on the fritz?

Deciding that the reward was worth the risk, I changed my game plan. Operation copy new ability now in effect.

I pout and look to the side before making my voice whine. "I'm sure that's what you say to all the girls. I'm still mad at you. Aren't you supposed to be loyal? I thought you said you chose me?"

He took my hands in his larger ones, cupping this both gently and urgently. "Grr," he quietly growled in slight submission. "Of course I'll be loyal to you once we're wed. Never fear, I will only be yours and you will only be mine."

I looked at him before I made a contemplative expression before turning it again to the side. "Hmpf, I'll forgive you this once, but I'm still mad at you. You hit Chi away from me not once but twice! First on the ship and again when you took me."
