Davin Conor

"I don't understand." I held the paper, confused.

"Whoever this Alistar person is. Wants. To. Steal. Our. Casino." Kieran rubbed his jaw.

"I got that." I reread the letter.

I watched Kieran toy with his lip ring before we got a call.

"Kate." Our assistant.

"Someone is here to discuss the current letter." She said.

"Let them up."

The elevator sooner opened to show a short, dark haired girl with a briefcase and laptop, her black hair at her shoulders, chin lifted.

"Hello." Kieran studied her, offering a hand.

"I'm Zara. I work under the CEO of Alistar Empire as her voice and-"

"Her?" I asked.

She nodded, adjusting her black frames.

I hummed.

"Where is this... woman?" Kieran asked.

"Not here." She sat herself.

"I'm Davin. This is Kieran. What's the deal with this?" I tossed the letter down.

"My boss sent it as a deal. She desires to create another building to expand her business and this is just an idea." She explained.

"Why can't I hear this from her, herself?" I asked.

"Well... personal issues." She cleared her throat.

"She wants to tear down our billion dollar casino. I want to know why. From her."

"She doesn't talk much." She said.

"What the hell does that mean?"

"Words don't leave her mouth a lot." She said slower, more condescending.

"The answer is no until we speak with her." Kieran said firmly.

She chuckled.

"She'll come here, sit, and you won't hear anything from her. Just saying. Nice to meet you, I'll be on my way to let her know."

"Who are you to her again?"

"Best friend and speaker." She straightened her dress.

She stood and left.

-

"What would she pay us for this?" Kieran looked at me, confused.

"She won't pay shit because it isn't happening." I finished the last email of the night.

~Morana Alistar

I listened to her and chewed on my cheek.

Condescending assholes.

But I scheduled my flight for tomorrow.

"I told them you wouldn't say shit." She told and I nodded.

Noon. I'd get there 1:10 ish.

"I wish you could answer me and tell me how you feel. I know you can but like... in a way that doesn't hurt." She looked at my throat and I touched over my scar.

"It's okay, honey." I whispered and she came, sitting on my lap, lying her head on my shoulder, hugging me.

I smiled.

She was small, my polar opposite in every way.

5'1 and I was 5'11.

Tan and black haired that moved to her shoulders.

Mine was to my hip, my skin was icy, my hair blonde.

Her eyes a deep brown, mine a deep blue.

I pulled off red while she suited mauve.

But she was my best friend and savior.

"Your voice is still beautiful." She sighed.

I squeezed her.

I kissed her forehead, leaving a red stain and she laughed.

I did this often.

"Do they want you to write or scribble on a notepad?" She teased.

"Maybe." I shrugged.

She signed "I love you" and I did the same.

She left and I was fucked with this mess.

Tomorrow couldn't come slower.
