On the next day, Jake woke up in his bed. He opened his eyes, sighed at the beginning of another school day, before he smiled, as he remembered the day before. He wasn't scared anymore, he wasn't even worried. He jumped of the bed and got himself ready quickly. All he wanted, was to see Vergilia as soon as possible. It was the day of the field trip as well, so Jake had the bag of snacks prepared the day before.

Jake ate a quick breakfast, then left the house. The road to school passed quickly. He knew he was early, so he leaned against the gate, hoping to spot a familiar car soon. For the time being, Jake distracted himself with his phone. He played few games, getting bored pretty quickly.

-Waiting for someone? - Jake suddenly heard the voice that made his heart skip a beat. He put his phone back in his pocket as he looked at his girlfriend.

-Not anymore. - he said. - I want to hold you. - he added, not sure if she wanted him to show her affection in public or not. Vergilia smiled lightly.

-Then come here. - she answered. Vergilia wrapped her arms around Jake's neck and laid her head on his shoulder as they held each other. - How did you sleep?

-I was jealous about your bed. - Jake answered, chuckling. - It could hold you for the whole night, it should be me.

-That's something I can't deny, it should be you. - Vergilia agreed.

It got Jake a smile from Vergilia. They stood there like that for a bit, before it was time to go to the classes. They made their way there hand in hand. Their friends noticed that immediately. They didn't know if it was safe to actually approach Jake, but one of them didn't have a problem with that.

-Look at you. - said Sebastian. - I have never seen you so happy before.

Jake grinned widely and leaned back in his seat. His eyes were shining, that was something new to see about him.

-I have no idea how to describe it. - Jake answered chuckling.

They waited in the classroom until the teacher came to them to let them know it was time for them to go. Jake adjusted his badge, linked his arm with Vergilia and led her to the bus with the others. They took a spot in the middle of the bus, Vergilia opted for the window seat. Jake wanted to oppose, but he was bribed with sweets and a kiss on the cheek, so he kept quiet. The two teachers, who were taking care of the group made sure everyone was present, before the door to the bus got shut and it left the school's parking lot.

The trip went quite uneventfully. Whenever someone was too loud, or was getting on Jake's nerves, one word was enough to bring the peace back. They spent the whole day in the physics institute, Vergilia found many ways to show Jake something interesting. He followed her like a puppy. By the end of the day it was time to go back to the bus and get back home.

As they took their seats in the bus, Jake leaned back in his seat and sighed.

-How did you like it? - he asked.

-It wasn't bad, but looking at you playing with that huge plasma ball was hilarious. - Vergilia said. - Especially when you started saying you were the god of thunder.

-I did it all just to make you laugh and I succeeded. - Jake smiled at the memory of her careless laughter.

-Yes, you did. - she agreed, then sighed. - My legs hurt.

-You should have told me, I would carry you. - Jake smirked. - I have a lot of experience.

They felt the bus started to move. It was already dark outside. Vergilia felt tired and sleepy. She rested her head on Jake's shoulder and relaxed. Jake smiled at that.

-You can be my pillow now. - she said quietly.

-Anytime you want, and for as long as you want. - Jake whispered only for Vergilia to hear.
