Part 16

Nightfall came, bringing a much needed brisk wind to the area. Daryl had found a small buck on his hunt and brought it back, which Carol cooked to perfection.

Amanda isolated from the group, standing on top of the bus as she took watch. She watched as Daryl walked over, climbing up alongside with her, "Here, this is all that's left." He said, handing her a plate with some meat, seeds and jerky.

"Baby Shane must be hungry." Amanda said, rolling her eyes, "I'm not hungry." She admitted, looking around

"I'm not carrying your ass when you black out. Fuckin eat." Daryl snapped at her

Amanda took the plate, "I'm sorry, thank you. Thank you for hunting and bringing dinner." Amanda said

Daryl nodded, eyeing her up before he placed his jacket on her shoulders, "I'll take over in a few hours." He mumbled before he climbed down to join Carol

Lori sat besides Rick, nearly on his lap. As she got closer towards the end of her pregnancy, she gravitated closer to Rick for comfort.

"I'm gonna go check on Amanda." Rick said, going to stand up

"No, wait, the baby's kicking." Lori smiled as she placed Ricks hand on her stomach, "Look." she smiled, "She loves you."

"She?" Rick asked

"Mothers intuition." Lori smiled

Rick couldn't help but smile as he rubbed her belly. He turned around and saw Amanda watching, her eyes burning with jealousy, anger yet also sadness. He started to walk towards her but stopped when Amanda turned away, turning her back to him. Rick exhaled deeply, deciding to give her space. He sat down on the ground besides Carl and smiled as he rubbed his knee

Amanda sat down on top of the bus, looking around, watching as the group began to settle down to rest up for the night.

At around 1200, Daryl came over to take shift. Amanda smiled at him tiredly, "Hey, thank you." She said softly as she climbed down from the bus. She laid down, away from the group but close enough to be in shoutings distance, and began to fall asleep.

At around 0500, Amanda woke up when she heard someone shifting around. Amanda sat up, smiling as she saw Glenn moving out of Maggie's embrace. Amanda stood up, rubbing her face before walking over to the fence and began brushing her teeth. She felt guilty for being so cold towards Rick. She knew he was only trying to be kind to Lori since she was pregnant, but her jealousy was overwhelming. She spit her toothpaste on the ground before walking over to Glenn, "I think I'm going to drive over to the town, see what i can find. Maybe get something for the baby, since Lori is due any day now." Amanda said

Glenn smiled, nodding, "I'd love to come along." He offered

Amanda and Glenn walked over to Daryl, "Going into town, we'll be back." Amanda said, smiling as Daryl opened the gate. Amanda climbed in the drivers seat, starting the car and driving down the road

"So.." Glenn said awkwardly, "are you excited to be a step mom?" he asked

Amanda inhaled sharply, "out of everything in the world there is to say, you choose that?" Amanda asked

"I know, I'm sorry." Glenn said, "Are you, though? It's gonna be awkward, then what? You're already having a hard time adjusting to her being pregnant." Glenn admitted quietly

"I don't know, Glenn. I don't know." Amanda admitted, "I don't know." She said quietly, "I'm stuck, I love him, I want him, He's mine but he's also hers. She takes priority, she's his wife." Amanda said as she parked in front of a baby store.
