27. Pure Obsession
(3/29/09)

Of my mom's obsession with buying purses
Galore, I only hope that her habitual
Action will lessen it's grip upon my life,
If not fade away. Each flashy purse she buys remains
But a temporary twinkle that is soon
Replaced with yet another even gaudier
One than before; the other—now worn out—
Purses are just haply thrown in the cluttered
Dumps—the closets—of aged bags that have long since lost
Their luster. I can still remember how it was
When I first peered into my own closet
And found a huge pile of those dusty bags
Fall off the high shelf and land on me—
And I was blamed for it, too. Even worse, when I
Searched in the master closet for some paper,
I also found to my horror an even bigger pile of dustier
Bags that hence threatened to fall on me.
Thank God, I closed the door before they had a chance
Of crushing me. I could just imagine how much worse
It will be if this continued on; thus, I will call
That TLC series, Trading Spaces, and by hell
Or high water, cure my mom of this dangerous addiction.

(To be continued...)

A/N: For those of you reading this who had moms buy purses like buying popcorn, you probably know what I'm talking about. For those of you who are afflicted with this 'addiction' (and you know who you are), get help, please... For your own sake. For your family's sake. And for your children's sake. Don't, I repeat, DON'T let this affliction get you; and if you have it, do all you can to cure it. Trust me—life will be better if you do.
