14. To My Father
(1/3/09)

Greater than the mountains is this great man,
Who is still somehow quite charming.
Indeed, I am his number one fan,
Who wants to go with him—fishing and bowling.
He is an old hand in the bowling ways,
Who can still keep things tidy together;
Not to mention, he's a great father, who stays
So diligent as a model worker.
Although just plain cray he sometimes is,
He remains extremely wise in my eyes.
Also, he's a wonderful cooking wiz,
Who has may family and friendly ties.
      But most of all, even though he's quite old
      And is reputed reckless, I am told,
      He has a sainted heart of solid gold.

(To be continued...)

A/N: I originally wrote this for my dad's birthday, but I decided to include it here. I love both my parents, but I'm a daddy's boy and a momma's boy. Believe it or not, I actually recited this for class. And it's my first attempt at rhyme.
P.S. It's not a sonnet per se, because it doesn't comply to its strict rules, but let's just pretend that it is, anyway.
