'Green is a nice color, and Aesop wears it well, maybe I should do a deep green?'
You wondered to yourself and went through the possible colors to match with him, going over what looked good with your necklace and what Sharp might actually wear. You knew he'd wear anything for you, but you still wanted to do him justice, he was such a good looking man.
You heard footsteps from behind you and stopped not too far away.
"Augustus, what do you think about a deep green? Is that something couples can pull off?"
"I believe red is a more suitable color for you, Miss Iram."
You turned around to see Theodore standing with his hands behind his back and a smirk on his face.
"I don't believe I asked your opinion, Mr. Salix."
"Well...my comment still stands, red would look much better on you."
"Your face would look much better with my fist on it too."
You both stood there in silence from your impulsive outburst, your eyes widened from your own surprise and Theodore began to genuinely laugh, his hand wrapped around his waist before he composed himself.
"I see why Sharp is fond of you."
"What do you want, Mr. Salix?"
"To apologize."
"There. you've done it."
"Why do you dislike me so much?"
"Why? Why? Where do I start? You pretend to be my friend, try to force me into your dirty Aurors group and not to mention your blatant attempt to hit my friend Deek. If Sharp hadn't been there I would have taken you down myself." You practically hissed at him as you finished your words and pushed your finger into his chest. He looked down at you and raised his eyebrow, it pissed you off how similar he was to Sharp.
"I see...Well...you seem to have made up your mind about me. Hopefully I can change that."
When Augustus came back over, Theodore nodded at him and bowed to you before turning to leave.
"If it's any consolation, I did apologize to Deek." He continued to leave and you stood there glaring at the door as it closed.
"Are you okay, Miss?"
"Yes, Mr. Hill, thank you...I was thinking a deep green, do you have anything nice?"
########
Sharp examined his vial closely, the swirls of blue and green danced before him when he raised it to eye level.
Rococo climbed onto the potions table as he sat the vial down, he chittered before waving his paws in the air. Without skipping a beat Sharp pulled a shiny coin from his breast pocket and handed it to him. Rococo happily took it from his fingers and stuffed it into his mouth before running back into the vivarium.
"Funny little creatures, aren't they?" A voice asked nearby.
Sharp turned and saw Deek smiling as he approached the table.
"Ah! Deek, nice to see you. What have you been up to lately?"
"Deek has been making sure all the house elves are prepared for the ball. Deek always likes the ball. May Deek ask why Master is brewing here, and not Masters' classroom?"
Sharp began stirring the potion with a spoon and focused on counting in his mind.
"Well Deek, sometimes it's hard to find peace and quiet in the castle, at least here I'm not to be disturbed."
"Apologies for bothering you-"
"You're an exception Deek, you're always welcome." Deek smiled and walked closer to examine the vials.
"What is master making?"
Sharp carefully moved the spoon from the mixture and placed it on the table. He looked down at Deek as if he was figuring out the right words.
"It's a bit complicated to explain...but it's an original brew, one that 'Misses' made, she's very talented."
"Oh yes! Misses is very smart. Deek is happy to have Misses around." Sharp chuckled as Deek made his way around the table and summoned a broom to begin sweeping.
"Will Misses be coming by?" He asked as the dirt collected at his feet.
"She doesn't know I'm here right now, she's doing some work for Professor Hecat and I surprisingly had some free time...if it's okay Deek, we don't need to tell her I was here."
Deek paused to look over at him and titled his head in confusion.
"Why, sir?"
Why?
Good question.
"Well...I suppose I don't have an answer for that."
"Is everything okay, sir?"
"Yes, everything is fine Deek..."
Sharps' eyes furrowed a bit as he silently pours the potion into the empty vials on the table. As he finished his work and cleaned up, Deek walked over and held his broom gently as he spoke.
"Deek thinks Misses is a good person. Deek thinks Misses will understand anything you tell her. Master makes Misses happy."
Sharp leaned onto the table and soaked in Deeks' words. He closed his eyes and sighed.
"You're right, Deek, Misses is a good person..."
Deek smiled before continuing his sweeping. Sharp continued to lean onto the table deep in thought- staring at the vials in front of him and scolding himself for the need of keeping secrets.
She'd understand.
He thought to himself.
Then why don't you tell her?
