"...Did you have any questions?"

"No, Professor Weasley, I think I understand everything! Chaperoning will not be that hard."

"I know, but it's my job to make sure we're all prepred- and please, call me Matilda."

You smiled at her as she left the potions classroom; you turned around to see Sharp smiling at you as he leaned on his desk, his arms across his chest as he watched you.

"What?"

"You seem excited."

"I am! I love the Yule ball, I also have fond memories..."

He uncrossed his arms as you approached him and reached for his hands.

"Don't you have fond memories?"

"I do..." He smiled sweetly as he pulled you in and kissed your temple. "...One very fond memory, to be precise. One I will not soon forget."

"Good. Then we can create more memories." You giggled before leaning in and kissing him softly. "This time we will go together, and maybe we can match!"

"Match?"

"Yes! We should both match colors! Maybe a deep red, or a stunning green? What do you think?"

"I... I'm not sure. I'm not one to match or look good in any colors other than neutrals."

"That's not true! That green vest you wore welcoming night looked delicious on you."

"Delicious?" His tone was a mix of amusement and curiosity.

"Yes, positively delicious. How do you feel about red?" He chuckled as you placed your finger on your lips as if in deep thought.

"My love...you will look radiant in whatever color you choose. Tell me what you prefer, and I'll be sure to match with you."

"Promise?"

"I promise...actually, I have a gift for you."

He lifted himself from the desk and began walking to his office, you followed him quickly, curiosity filling your mind.

"A gift? What for?"

He opened a drawer from his desk and pulled out a small black box wrapped with a silky bow.

"It's actually your Christmas present...However, considering the upcoming ball, I believe you may enjoy this now."

Your heart skipped as he placed the box in your hand gently- you looked up at him and he nodded for you to open it.

As you undid the bow the lid of the box practically sprung open; releasing enchanted blue butterflies that dissipated as you watched them fly into the air.
When you looked back down into your hands you gasped as you saw what was inside.

The gold chain shimmered in the light and laced through a golden serpent shaped like an "S". The eye of the snake sparkled when you lifted it with your hand to examine it more closely.

"Oh Aesop...where did you get this?"

"I made it..."

You lowered the necklace back into the box before looking up at him in surprise.

"You made this? For me?"

He cleared his throat and looked away before answering.

"W-well I noticed sometimes you don't know what to do with your hands, I thought a necklace might give you some reprieve from any anxieties."

You stood there in silence just staring at him. His face began to grow crimson from your silence, his hands posed behind his back and his eyes still avoiding yours.
