The next few days were frustrating.
Mentally.
Emotionally.
Not to mention Sexually.
You tried not to complain because Sharp was being very giving to you, so much in fact that you don't remember the last time he finished with you. You would try to manipulate each encounter but some how he would always weaken you to your knees and you'd be too tired to continue. How can someone complain about that?
Along with Sharp being too giving- the students in your classes wouldn't take you seriously. Sure there were a few here and there who were happy to learn and ask for help but the rest of the students couldn't care less that you were there.
Between work and Sharp you were beginning to feel burned out and a little useless.
"Another tough day, love?"
Mirabel watched as you patted the soil in the a pot so forcefully it looked like you were stretching it.
"Oh! I'm sorry..." You used your fingers to run through the soil again to release the pressure and prepare for planting.
"Are the students still giving you trouble?"
"Not really trouble..." You started. "It's more like I'm not even there. Or I'm not worth learning from..." When the soil was ready you pushed the pot back and stared at the table.
"Mirabel...when you became a Professor you were young too. How did you get the students to listen to you?"
She hummed as she planted some seeds and waved her wand at the pot in front of her. A small cloud sprinkled water as she turned to you and smiled.
"There was nothing special I did, dear...I was simply myself. It took a long time for me to accept who I was and be happy, students were not going to take that way from me." She stated in a matter of fact fashion.
"Be myself, huh? Sounds a little cliché."
"Clichés exist for a reason, my dear..." She continued to hum as she prepared another pot on the table.
"Should I really just be myself? I don't remember being very popular in my younger years."
"I seem to recall things differently, Lutea."
You turned around to see Ominis standing in the doorway; an amused smile on his face.
"Good afternoon ladies." He bowed before stepping in and approaching you.
"Professor Garlick, do you mind if I steal her away from you?"
"Not at all, Mr. Gaunt." She gave you a hug before shooing you to follow Ominis as he walked away.
"Taking a stroll around campus, Mr. Gaunt?" You asked as you caught up beside him.
"A bit. I needed a break from shadowing Headmaster Black...He irks me."
"How so? Not that I disagree, I'm just curious about your reasoning."
"He still goes on about his beliefs...how Hogwarts needs to be pure and..." He hesitated a moment before continuing. "You know how I feel about those beliefs. It is safe to say I will not be following the footsteps of Black. Whether I become Headmaster or not."
"Wait. Hold on. Are you actually considering being a Headmaster?" You both paused in front of the large tree growing in the walkway. Its flowers bloomed and the tree seemed to breathe as the light from overhead shined through.
"Well...It's an option. I can't float around aimlessly forever, I do need a career...Perhaps one here might do good. I could break the way Black teaches and give students a different perspective. Merlin knows Hogwarts can do better."
