This time free from the haunting grip of nightmares.

The first rays of sun pierced through the curtains, casting a soft golden hue across the room. As I slowly stirred from my deep slumber, the events of the previous day rushed back into my consciousness. The forced marriage to Alexander Knight, the unspoken power struggles, and the strange mix of emotions I felt in his presence.

I carefully extricated myself from the tangled sheets and shifted away from him, trying to put some distance between us. Alexander remained asleep, his features softened by the morning light, a stark contrast to the intimidating persona he projected when awake.

The room was quiet, save for the gentle hum of the city outside. I took a moment to collect my thoughts and plan my next moves. It was evident that my defiance had only scratched the surface of the complex web of power dynamics in this marriage.

As I headed to the bathroom to freshen up, I couldn't help but think about the phone call from the night before-the voice, who had once held a special place in my heart. It was a painful reminder of the life I had left behind, the life I could no longer be a part of.

The cold water splashed on my face served as a wake-up call, pulling me back into the reality of my situation. I had to be cautious, to play my cards right, and find a way to navigate this marriage without losing myself entirely.

Once I finished in the bathroom, I returned to the bedroom and found Alexander awake, his piercing eyes fixed on me as he leaned against the headboard. The intensity of his gaze sent a shiver down my spine, a reminder that I was in his domain, and he was a force to be reckoned with.

"Good morning, Mrs. Knight." he greeted me, his voice laced with amusement as he emphasized the title. It was clear that he took some perverse pleasure in using it.

I ignored the title, choosing instead to maintain a facade of indifference. "Don't you have mafia business to attend to or something?" I replied, my tone laced with sarcasm.

He chuckled, a low, throaty sound that sent a tingling sensation through me. "Oh, I always make time for my newly wedded wife," he said, his eyes never leaving mine.

I couldn't help but roll my eyes at his comment, dismissing his words with a wave of my hand. "Please, let's not pretend like this is a real marriage. It's a business arrangement, nothing more."

"Roll your eyes at me one more time, and I'll give you reasons to roll them perfectly." he said, his voice low and husky.

His unexpected response caught me off guard, and I could feel a flush of heat rising to my cheeks.

I met his gaze head-on, my own eyes challenging, even as my heart raced with a mixture of irritation and something else I couldn't quite define. "Is that a threat, Mr. Knight?" I retorted, my voice laced with defiance.

He leaned in closer, his lips dangerously close to my ear, his warm breath sending shivers down my spine. "You have no idea, Mrs. Knight." he whispered, his tone dripping with seduction.
