"I wish you good fortune in the wars to come"
He heard her voice over and over.
He remembered when he first saw her.
She was a year old maybe older.

Ned's life had just fallen apart and there were pieces he could never put back together.
He was sad, he had become an uncle and father at the same time.
And there she was his lady Ashara.

In another world, she could've been mine.

He didn't know if Ashara and Prince Maekar had a great love story though he doubted it.

Ours was. Mine and Asharas.

He remembered how Daenyra,no Amber, played with his newborn son.
Jon had always been taken with her, always loved her presence.
And suddenly both her and Prince Maekar were gone.

Jon was beside himself Ned thought back.
"It's fine we planned it." Harlan had told him.
Harlan Vernize, one of his oldest friends, had always been of particular taste.
Ashara and Harlan were only wed to try and mend the relationship between the Reach and Dorne.
Or so he thought.

They were never wed.
Harlan would never give Ashara children, both knew.
And in came Prince Maekar,Harlan's charming uncle.
In secret, he married and bedded Ashara.
Daenyra came out of it.
And the world is better for it.

Many years later Prince Maekar and Daenyra were found.
When he first saw her again, the world stopped.
Ashara.
He looked away and looked again.
Ashara is gone. This is her daughter.

She looked older than she was. More mature than other young ladies her age.
She stood proud and tall.

A true Dornishwoman.

At first, they didn't talk.
The first time had been in Winterfell right before he took her beloved fathers head.
During their brief talk, he could tell how cultured, respectful, and intelligent she was. Not only that but she was charming as well.
Prince Maekar's daughter.

He thought they might get along well. She was to be his daughter by law-, after all.
But Harlan had died and Robert wanted that dragon scum gone. The order was given and Ned had no option but to comply.

He didn't want to kill Maekar.
Ned liked Maekar.
And he knew the second his sword collided with the Prince's head, he would make his worst enemy.

The day had been warm it almost felt like a southern summer.
Maybe it had been the Valyrian Gods welcoming Maekar.
Ned had a blackout. He doesn't remember taking his head or what happened afterward. The only thing he remembered was her screams. Even now they followed him to his nightmares. And her face...gods the pure sadness and anger.

They never talked afterward except for the formalities.
And yet in the past few days, they talked a lot.
He was surprised and happy even.

Catelyn often bragged about their relationship to Ned and strangely he was jealous.
He had hope that maybe she would forgive him one day but his hope was crushed.
"I wish you good fortune in the wars to come" two voices said at the same time.
War brewing? Ned thought. Both Robert and Daenyra told him that.
Ned was unsure.
It's all he's ever been since the rebellion.
