Chapter 35

Eddie packed his laptop away as the school bell rang out.

It was finally the end of the day. He was leaving early to stop at his flat to get changed. On the way to Rachel's, he planned to stop at the corner shop to get her some flowers and chocolates. She deserved a lot more than that, but it was a start.

He groaned as Steph waltzed into the office.

"Leaving early are we? Alright for some!" She chirped

"Can this wait till tomorrow Steph? I'm actually in a bit of a rush" Eddie sighed, packing the last of his things into his bag

"I just wondered if you'd heard from Rachel." She asked

Before he could respond, he felt his phone buzz in his pocket. He grabbed it.

"Hold that thought Steph" he said, switching his phone on

He smiled as Rachel's name popped up on his phone, frowning at the image icon. Rachel was never a person to send photos via text. He wasn't even sure if she knew how, he definitely didn't!

He froze as he looked at the picture. It was a photo of Rachel, her eyes filled with fear. Stuart was stood next to her, his fist holding a handful of her hair, pulling her closer to him, a twisted grin on his face. The message beneath it read:

"Come and join the party Eddie! This time you can have some fun too"

His heart was pounding against his chest, anger taking over every inch of his body. Stuart wasn't going to hurt her, not again.

"Eddie, what's wrong?" Steph questioned, pulling him from his thoughts

He'd forgotten Steph was still in the room

"Steph, call the Police" he instructed

Steph frowned at his request

"What? Why?"

"Just do it! Stuart is with Rachel" he huffed

He showed her the message and the photo. Her eyes widened with panic.

"Go to her, I'll call the Police and then I'll be right behind you"

Eddie nodded, dashing out of the office and downstairs into the car park as fast as he could.

He jumped into his car and headed out of the school. He hoped he wasn't too late.
