Sweet Little One

sweet little one, where did your heart go?

did you bury it in the garden?

where the wild roses

did you hide it in a box?

where no one else could see.

did you take it to the mountains?

high as high can be.

sweet little one, why don't you take it back.

you need that pretty heart.

to make up what you lack

your eyes no longer shine.

now they're always full of tears.

you should look after your heart.

You'll need it in a few more years.

sweet little one, don't let them get you down.

put a smile on that face.

don't let them see you frown.

maybe love will hold the key.

to unlock your empty heart

but remember it won't work at all.

if you don't even start
