The days that followed appeared to mush into one. Erwin couldnt remember hitting his head or anything so he tried to push the thoughts of unease from his mind.

He finalized his resignation with the corps and began to pack up his many belongings he had accumulated over the years into boxes, despite Hange insisting they wouldnt be moving into his office.

As he did so Y/n continued to read the large book. Occasionally taking notes. He had yet to ask her what she was reading since he didnt want to intrude but he grew ever curious by the day.

"My love?" Erwin asked approaching y/n one late morning as the sun shone in beams through the office window.

"Hm?" She looked up from her book wiping her right eye as if it had been watering.

"Oh, are you okay?" Erwin's eyebrows furrowed. "You look as though youve been crying..."

"Oh, its just very dusty in here since youve been moving so much stuff around. Dont worry about me" Y/n gave a small laugh dislodging the tension in the room. "Did you need something?" She closed the book setting it down on the table.

"I was wondering if you might like to take a trip to some of the villages and towns nearby to see if theres any properties we might be interested in buying." Erwin smiled.

"But dont you already have a home given to you by the corps?" She asked.

"Well, yes." He responded. "But i thought it might be nicer to find somewhere we both like. Afterall, the housing the corps has is usually very basic and I know how important it is for you to have somewhere we can call home, not just a roof over our heads." He leant down to kiss the top of y/n's head earning a smile from her.

"I'd love to. I'll just get a jacket it looks a little cold out today doesnt it?" She cupped Erwins cheek kissing it before standing and making her way to the coat hook and taking down her cardigan wrapping it around herself.

Erwin turned to the window "Well it looks pretty warm to m-" he cut himself off. The office was cold. A strong wind blew outside blowing leaves off the trees past the windows. "-nevermind. Lets go."

He walked towards where y/n was waiting at the door. Pausing to glance at the title of the book y/n had been reading.

The two linked arms and left the office walking down to the streets outside the headquarters.

Once outside the pair of lovers boarded a carriage bound for the first location on the list of properties Erwin had made.

Each house they viewed was different. Large tall town houses, small quaint cottages. Some out in the sticks and some right on the bustling streets of the towns and cities. But none of them felt quite right.

The final house was like something out of a fairytale. Its main features of beauty being the thatched roof which overhung the front porch as well as the garden out front which boasted flower beds galore and a large tree laden with lucious green leaves and sturdy branches.

"Just picture it. We could plant what ever we wanted here. A flower for every letter of the alphabet and every colour under the sun if we wanted." Y/n appeared in pure bliss. "Erwin? Do you think that branch there would be strong enough to hang a swing? I think our future kids would love that." She beamed turning to Erwin before her face flushed red. "Oh. If umm if thats something you want of course. I realise we havent really discussed it properly or anything."

"I think its strong enough." Erwin smiled broadly scooping y/n up in his arms kissing her lovingly. "I could wish for nothing more than to have a family with you. We wouldn't even need to invent stories to tell them at bed time. Our lifetimes have enough stories to last for many nights."

"Then as lovely as the rest of the houses were. I think this one will be perfect for our family to thrive in. Dont you?" Y/n replied also smiling ear to ear.

"I was hoping you'd say that" Erwin placed y/n back on her feet. "The current owner happens to be an aquaintance of mine. I shall let them know immediatley that we'd love to take it. Who knows if we might even be able to move in within the week."

"I cant wait!" Y/n exclaimed spinning in a circle her arms outstretched. The bright warm sun glowing on her skin.
