The Reaping

Devon pov

I stand in the square with all the rest of district one "Now , for our tributes " Arian beams "Ladies first !" she walks quickly over to the large bowl containing the girls of or districts names and reaches a delicate hand in, she pulls out a carefully folded pice of white paper. I suck in a breath . Glimmer !  will she volenteer , if she does i cant . "Scarlet Turner " I look to see the unfortunate girl ,she is from the poorer part of the district . Maybe Glimmer won't volenteer .I mentally pray that she wont . Please please plea- "I vollenteer as Tribute " The voice of this volenteer vuts through me as if it were glass . Glimmer had volenteered and now  i can see her walking up to the stage and climbing up to greet with Arian ,I cant hear what there says as thoughts are buzzing in my mind

Why did she volenteer ? I told her i might she said she wouldnt  .Is she trying to protect me ? I dont nee her protection Maybe i should volenteer so i can protect her

I am snapped back into reality as i hear a boy neear me shout "I VOLENTEER "

Damm I was to late , Glimmert was going into the arena and i wouldnt be there to protect her!

**INSIDE JUSTICE BUILDING**

"You have ten minutes said the gruff voice out side the room where i would see glimmer before she left for the capitol , i nod and he opens the doors .

I walk in and look at Glimmer she was the image of beauty , she was also alot stronger than you would think .I run over to her and pick her up she is so light i remark sighlently .I hug her tightly and kiss her forhead gently for a miinute before we sit down her hand in mine .

"Ok Glim you need to win this ,Glimmer Win for us ,"I smile trying to stay strong but i know i could break down at any moment ."Hey ,Devon dont worry ,Im gona win this thing"  this makes me smile i remember exactly why i feel in love with her in the first place .

 It was the first day of fight school five years ago . WE had went to trainning together but had never talked she was stunning and popular i was barly anyone at all. Then one day we were partnered up and i got her wee were praticing had onhanad combat and fencing  , her hair was in a fish tail plait and she looked amazing in her  protective training gear . she was so cocky faceing me of the heavy sword glisting in the light ,she floored me quickly and i remember telling her she was strong  for a girl and her laughing at me and intrducing her self .She was just Perfect we became best friends stuck together ,trained to gether we were almost inspereable . the next year i told GLimmer i had a bit of a crush on her , her face had went bright red and we ended up a couple .

"Remember your training ,Your skilled and will probably be with the careers "I Plead her to do her best and i feel confident she will do well i love her it would horrify me if anything happened to her .After we just stad and she hugs me her head burried in my chest  .

The peace keeper comes to soon to tell me its time to go , I kiss her quickly and gently  ,"I Love you and belivie in you Glimmer " "i Love you too Devon she says at that moment the doors close and a tear escapes my eye 

**later on **

It is night fall by the time i get home from the train station where we waved goodbye to the tributes Glimmer her picture stays in my head her kiss still lingers on my lips , and i have no intention of getting rid of either.

That night i wake up screaming tears streamming down my face , the nightmare repling in my mind .I begin to hyperventalate  as the images flash through my head the horrific ,grusom and graphic images of .......Glimmers death  . NOw i cry and cry and dont think ill ever stop

"Glimmer !" my voice cries "Glimmer "
