You spend three days in the hospital, including the day you were dropped off.

You enjoy when Guy visits. Never for long, and always with Kakashi at his side, but he visits. He stopped by once a day.

The next visit was the second day. The boquet from the first visit is in a vase on the bedside table, you were combing your hair and listening to the faint sounds of patients and medical ninja. It was nice to be alone, to process the variety and chaos of the world without all the eyes.

Guy runs into the room through the open door, shooting a thumbs up at you. Kakashi trails behind him, a half hearted, "yo." all the acknowledgement you get.

Guy looks a little extra passionate, he clasps the hand you lifted into a wave between his own. "(Y/N)!! I trust that you're feeling better!"

You smile, awkwardly avoiding eye contact. You have no people skills. You can't tell if he likes you or is this over enthusiastic with everyone. And the last thing you want is to scare off your only potential friend by reading into things.

"Much better. What are you up to today, Guy?" He holds your hand for a moment longer, "I'm on my way to give Sakura something we were sent out to find! It's part of a new healing salve she's working on! I couldn't stop by without making sure you were recovering from your tragic accident!!" Tragic accident? That's a little dramatic. Although you suppose from Guys point of view him ruining your already bad first day of freedom with a tree branch to the chest was probably a genuine tragedy.

You give him a reassuring smile, tapping your chest bandage gently. "I'm doing perfectly fine, don't worry about it. I don't hold it against you, you had no clue anyone else was out in the woods." You do wonder how neither ninja picked up on you but between Kakashi's book, being within their territory, and Guys fixation on his challenges you can understand how they'd been a little relaxed.

You worry though, that with this reassurance you won't see Guy again. So you blurt out your next thought, "Will you be my first friend?"

"I would be honored!! I, Konoha's Noble Gentleman, will be the best friend you could ask for!!" Guys eyes practically poured tears, and even Kakashi looked up from his book. Although his opinion wasn't as sentimental as Guys, "You're making a mistake. I accidentally ended up friends with him and he hasn't left me alone in a decade."

Guy turns around, righteous indignation warring with happy tears on his face, "Ka kashi! I am glad you consider yourself my friend!! But that was just cruel!!"

The look Kakashi shot you was a mix of "see what I mean?" and exhaustion. He hops out the window.

Guy huffs before turning back to you. "Sorry! I cannot stay! I have a mission to complete after all!" He waves, already jogging in place, "See you later!!"

What curious men. You return to your thoughts, a smile on your lips and a certain ninja on your mind.

The last visit was as you were being released. You'd just gotten dressed and signed out when Guy skids into the path in front of the hospital. He bursts in, panting and sweaty, "(Y/N)!! I am glad I made it!! I had to come see you off on your return home!! It is the least I can do as your friend!!"

"Guy! I'm glad to see you!" You accept his sweaty hug when he flings his arms around your shoulders, "Were you on a mission? You're filthy!"

He chuckles, stepping back and putting his hands on his hips. "No, my friend, I was training! With my favorite former student! He should be here any minute!!"

As if on cue, a smaller Might Guy runs into the room. The same green suit, the same bowl cut, and even wearing his own leaf headband around his waist!

Oh. He has a son. That probably means he has a wife. Your heart sinks but you smile anyway.

"Oh, I didn't know you had a son!" Guy laughs heartily at that, the boy and him both reaching to rub the back of their head at the same time.

"No! Guy Sensai is not my father! But I am honored that you would think so! He is an amazing man!" The boy even happy cries like Guy.

"Alas, Lee is but a former student of mine! I'd be honored if I ever have a child with half the potential he has!!" Now they're both happy crying. They give each other a tearful thumbs up and you ruin the moment by giggling.

You can't help it, for some reason the way they move in sync is adorable! When they both look at you, you sink back a little. "Sorry. It was just.. too cute?"

Rock Lee blinks owlishly, whether he doesn't understand or that's just how he always looks with those big eyes you honestly can't tell. Guy beams at you however and you relax.

"Lee! I never introduced you to (Y/N)! She is my new friend!!" Lee nods, listening intently as if every word Guy says is laden with wisdom.

"The one Kakashi Sensai said you hit with a tree?" Lee examines you, skeptically, eyes flitting over the boquet you're carrying.

Guy sputters, "It was a branch!! One branch!!" And it was an accident!!"

Lee turns back to Guy, "Oh! And she is the one you tried to-" Guy claps both of his large hands over Lee's mouth and drags him out backwards. "Back to training! Can't waste daylight!! See you soon!!"

You are left to head home alone. But that's okay. You can't help but notice how motivated Guy is about everything and you wish you were half as hard working.
