Chapter Seven - I'm in the getaway car PART ONE

Author's Note: There are some characters in this story that people inspire in real life, but their names are changed slightly. Please note that these fake characters' actors have NO CONNECTIONS to the people they're actually inspired by.

Although this chapter has a different name than chapters, five and six. Chapters seven and eight follow five and six directly. I just didn't want to name it "PART THREE" and "PART FOUR".

Sorry about the long hiatus between this chapter and the previous chapter, I got writer's block and couldn't figure out a way to piece together the middle part of the story. I wrote the beginning and finished the end, but got stuck in the middle.

EXT. RESTAURANT PATIO - NIGHT

Sarah and Stephen stand under the soft glow of patio lights, laughing and chatting animatedly like old friends catching up after a long time.

STEPHEN
You're an amazing friend, Sarah. Thanks for tonight;
it's been a blast.

SARAH
Aw, right back at you, Stephen! We really
need to do this more often.

Stephen playfully nudges Sarah's shoulder.

STEPHEN
(teasingly)
Absolutely! Let's not let so much
time go by next time.

SARAH
(laughing)
Deal! I promise to be a better friend
and not let life get in the way.

STEPHEN
Your kids must keep you pretty busy, huh?

SARAH
Oh, you have no idea. They're a bundle of energy,
but I wouldn't have it any other way.

SARAH
It's hard seeing them grow up so fast. It was like
yesterday they were so little.

STEPHEN
Yeah, I know what you mean.

As they continue to chat, Sarah's sharp eyes catch a glimpse of movement in the distance, a flicker of something in the corner of her vision.

She glances over, but the figure remains obscured for the moment.

SARAH
Hey, do you see someone over there?
They seem to be looking this way.

Stephen glances in the direction Sarah pointed, but by then, the figure has vanished from view.

STEPHEN
(slightly puzzled)
Hmm, I didn't catch anyone. Maybe it's just
someone enjoying the evening.

SARAH
Probably! I guess I was imagining things.

Their easygoing banter continues, and Sarah feels a sense of comfort in Stephen's company, as if they've known each other forever.

SARAH
(appreciative)
Thanks for understanding, Stephen. It's not always
 easy to find time for friends with busy lives.

STEPHEN
(nods)
I get it, Sarah. Life can be crazy sometimes,
but just know I'm always here whenever
you need a friend to talk to or hang out with.
