Herm's POV
I was busy with my phone talking to my group, explaining that I wouldn't be able join races for now. Bakit ba kasi kailangan ko pa lumipat? My life's back at canada for Pete's sake!
I felt a light tap on my shoulder and saw mom when I looked up. So I took off my earbuds to ask why.
"Tawag na tayo ng dad mo 'nak" mom said.
Napabuntong hininga nalang ako bago tumayo.
Bago pa man ako maka pasok ng office, may naapakan akong bagay. It was a keychain that has a cat pendant on it. "Galea" basa ko sa naka engraved sa likod nito. 'cute' I'm going to keep it.
"Hermia"
"Coming!" I immediately put the keychain inside my pocket, baka mawala ko pa.
"Hi herm, long time no see? Your father told me you'd like to transfer here for this school year?" Principal syrene said as soon as I as on the chair in front of her table, beside my parents.
"We'll technically, I didn't have a choice." I said in a sarcastic tone.
Totoo naman. I already begged them not to transfer me, but their decision was final kahit pa maayos naman daw ang grades ko. They were too worried after they knew I still join races.
"Hija, you know it's for your own good."
"You're father's right, sweety. We already told you that your chosen hobby's dangerous" mom added.
"But mom I've been racing for two years already and look, buo pa naman ako. I've never even been into an accident" I emphasized my last words on purpose. I've been protesting about this for a long time now. It's my only way of venting out my frustrations, aside from boxing and taekwondo.
"Plus my flowers are back at home, who's going take care of it kung pareho kayong busy ni dad sa work?" I added hoping they'd change their mind.
"Hermia, kailangan bang madisgrasya ka muna bago ka tumino?" My father sternly said looking at me with authority. Mom just held his hand to calm him down but I just secretly rolled my eyes.
"Anak, sana maintindihan mo kami ng daddy mo. We just want you to be safe, and don't worry about your flowers at home, we already hired someone professional to look after it. Your new condo has a small indoor garden there, since you don't want to live with your aunt or at the University's dorm. You can just plant new ones there, princess."
Hindi na ako nagsalita after what mom said. Because with all honesty, I appreciate their efforts and concerns. No matter how busy they are, palagi nila akong inuuna.
Even before pa kami lumipad pabalik ng pilipinas, nakailang balik muna sila dito just to make sure I'd be comfortable at my new condo, to make sure I have everything I would need, and to personally process my papers.
"So it's settled then? Herm would start her class tomorrow. As soon as her papers are processed I'll send her schedule via email tonight." Principal Syrene said after clearing her throat to break the long minutes of silence.
May iba pa silang pinag usapan ng magulang ko pero di na ko nakinig pa. I simply took out the keychain from my pocket and analyze it for a moment.
I've always wanted a cat but I never got the chance to. I've always been busy with modeling, playing and being out with my friends. I'm sure if I had one mapapabayaan ko lang din. So i guess mabuti na yung hindi nalang ako nag alaga.
'but what if nag na alaga ako?' I thought to myself. I mean, I don't have new projects pa naman and I'm not sure if makakapag race pa ko for now dahil wala yung grupo ko. Not to mention, dad won't let me ship my babies here dahil baka sumali lang daw ako ng karera.
