With Carolynn distracted, I can make my way to this shitty little hog's trough of a restaurant and have a little chat with Donny.

I get up and I intentionally don't shower so I still have Carolynn's sex stench on me so I can show Donny that Carolynn's mine. Instead I dress in my most intimidating power suit and tie and slick sunglasses which allows me to further exude my mystique. It always works in the office so it should definitely work on some two-bit nobody from nowheresville.

Kenny-

"Don't worry, Don, we got it covered. I got these guys working overtime and they still can't do what you do combined, but we're good." I'm on the phone with Don (Donny). I'm in the back of the diner after the breakfast rush has cooled down.

"And you better remember that, Ken," Don cheekily replies, "I appreciate you lending me your car today. It's already been a hell of a week and you know how I get when I have to visit Russ." Yes, Don went to visit his dad in prison and yes, he calls his dad by his first name. He goes there every couple of months or so, but seeing as his pops is up for parole soon, he wanted to go there to see how that process is going.

"No problem, Donny Boy," I say, "just don't ding it up. I know how you've been with cars lately." We both chuckled.

"Hey, Ken," he begins to say, "are you going to Carolynn's thing?"

"Don, I'll be up to my neck in the folks coming to that thing." I begin to say, "I might have Gina stop by. Y'know she's gotten friendly with her."

"Yeah, yeah," he says, "look, Ken, I highly doubt she'll ask after everything that went down this week, but if she does tell her I'm in the city on a gig or anyone else for that matter."

Don and me have been best buds since we're kids. He always had my back and I always had his even when he was off in college. He was there for my when my dad, Ken Sr, passed and I was with him every step of the way when his mom died. I was with him when that bitch Brooke cheated on him while he was mourning. I've gone with him to visit his old man Russ in the slammer (he was buddiess with my father).

I was always the one rootin' for him because he was the smart one between us and he's the reason I met my girl, Gina. She was with him in high school first. They broke up after he went to college and he not only gave me his blessing to date her but he's the one who first encouraged me to ask her out and the rest is history. So, I cover for him whenever he needs me to and he does the same for me.

"Don, I thought you said your boy Chad was comin'?" I ask but before I can get an answer one of my guys comes to the back to get me, says there's someone upfront demanding to talk to Donny and doesn't want to order. 'Demand' who the fuck is this guy, I'm thinkin'. Nobody demands shit in my store. I tell my guy to tell the dude I'll be right up

"Hey, Don," I start saying, "there's this dude here askin' for you."

"Asking for me?" he repeats, "Who the hell would be asking for me?"

"Let me rephrase for you, bud," I say, "he ain't askin' he's demandin'"

"Demanding? Who'd be there deman-" he cuts himself off, "Oh my God, don't tell me it's him?" he asks thinkin' out loud, "What's this guy look like?"

I take a peak at the guy up front. "Dude looks like a giant Ken Doll statue in a suit." I say. Don lets out a huff in annoyance.

"This guy won't leave this alone," he starts to say, "that motherfucker is Spencer. And you know I don't cuss much. He's Carolynn's fiance that I told you about, he must be in town for her thing. Carolynn's stickin' with him so I don't know what his beef is."

I wasn't there so Don can explain it better, but earlier in the week, Don and Carolynn got into some big argument about something that happened in the city last weekend. Don said he told her how he felt about her and I think she feels the same but she don't want to leave Spencer. Carolynn hasn't come over here since and Don hasn't talked about her ever since. Until just now on the phone.

"Alright, Don," I say, "I gotta let you go. I gotta see what this dude wants."

I walk up to the front

"Hello, sir, I'm Kenny" I say offering my hand but he won't shake my hand, "how may I help you?"

"I want to see Donny, now!" he says sternly.

"Well, I'm sorry, sir," I say as calmly as I can, "he's not here right now but I can take a message."

"I need to speak with him directly, please!" guy sounds unhinged, "Where does he live?!" the guy starts getting louder

"I ain't givin' you his address," I say firmly, "I don't know you, you haven't even given me your name."

"Listen, you overweight waste of space! My name is Spencer and I'm not to be trifled with!" he starts shoutin'. He's makin' my customers and my staff uncomfortable. Now, they're used to screamin' and shoutin' but that's over orderin' food and shit. This? This asshole's threateniing me.

Now, anybody that knows I'm normally a pretty even keel guy, not much gets me hot under the collar, but I can't stand it when someone talks down t'me and threatens me especially when the guy's not even bringing me his business by orderin'.

"Get the fuck outta my store, sir," I say in the most calm but pissed tone I can make and I point toward the door, "if you ain't gonna by somethin', get the fuck outta here! You're disturbing my staff and my customers."

"You can't speak to me this way," Spencer says, "do you know who I am and the magnitude of legal hell I can bring to this shithole!?" No that does it! I almost draw back to take a swing at this guy when I hear a somewhat familiar voice behind him near the door.

Chad-

"Calm down, Spence," I say, "stop worrying about Donald, bro. He's in the city for one of my gig's, he's filling in for me managing and playing in the band while I'm here. So go back to your fiance, I'm sure she could use your help."

He gets this surprised, flustered look on his face as soon as he sees me and it makes me happy. I know full well that Spencer hates the ground I walk on because I'm the only one that calls him out on his BS.

Janine and I are in town for Carolynn's event but we haven't seen Kenny in awhile, so  we decided to pay him a visit. Yanking a knot in Spencer's tale is just a bonus.

I here him let out a frustrated huff, "Fine, but you both let him know to stay far away from this event tonight, or there'll be hell to pay!" and he storms out. The whole store gives me and Kenny a round of applause.

Janine-

Oh boy. Yes, Chad's definitely been right about this guy all along.

"Hey, Kenny, how've you been!?" I say excitedly, giving him a big hug and a friendly kiss on the cheek followed by he and Chad doing that handshake into a hug thing that guys do.

"I'm doin' swell," Kenny says, "still hustlin' and grindin'. So that's Spencer, huh? What a peice of work!"

"You're telling me," Chad says, "imagine having to compete at work with this narcissist sociopath. Being engaged to the boss's daughter and he's somehow charmed everyone in the office but me into believing his this incredible, upstanding, principled, driven leader. Everyone thinks I'm just jealous of him. Even Janine here was buying it until I was finally able to red pill her."

I have to admit, I've been blue pilled by his charm until recently. And I really feel stupid about it now, it was putting a strain on our relationship and our engagement. I haven't told Chad this, of course, but at one point I was actually jealous of Carolynn that she was with him. The thought makes me feel sick and ashamed now.

Ever since I witnessed his weird behavior at his own party at the bar, how he's been treating Donny and how he's been in the office this passed week. And the worst part is Carl and Carolynn are still making excuses for him. Just like I was, regrettably. And that I see him for what he is, it hurts me to see how he treats Carolynn and I don't understand how she could stay with that guy over a great guy like Donny.
