Chapter 1: The Ancient Shrines

Great Plateau Theme

Link couldn't tell how long he'd been travelling towards the Shrine in some odd ruins. No matter how far he walked, it never seemed to be getting any closer. He was exhausted and the shoes he wore sucked at giving him support.

"Ugh. How much further?" Link asked himself.

He walked towards a lone rock sitting under a large overhanging rock. He decided to pick it up.

"Ya haha!" A small voice yelled.

"What the-"

A little body appeared with a puff of tiny leaves and flower petals. The body had a very long nose...a bit like Pinocchio, and it had a leaf for a face! It was one weird looking creature. Its head was twice the size of its legs and arms! Its legs were so tiny, that Link wondered how in Hyrule it didn't just fall over.

"You found me!" It joyfully yelled. "Wait...you can see me? A-anyways, I am a Korok. I come from a forest north of here called Korok Forest. I have many MANY friends who are hiding here. Find all of them and you'll get a huge reward! Here's a tiny reward for finding me."

It gave Link a little seed-like thing. It was gold and smelt bad.

"Thank you?" Link said.

"Bai bai!" It said, before disappearing.

Link shook it off and continued his way to the Shrine. Upon arriving, Link looked around the Shrine. He saw a pedestal. He placed the Sheikah Slate on the pedestal and the Shrine opened. Link walked inside.

Upon entry, he saw a sign on the floor saying:

BOMB TRIAL

Link saw a pedestal with a cone stone above it. He placed the slate in and when it was done downloading, he saw two icons appear on the screen.

"Remote Bombs, huh?" Link said, grinning.

He explored the Shrine. It was a large structure with cold floors. He saw puzzles and locked doors. Right, time to do a Shrine.

The miserable sky brought the mood down at Dueling Peaks Stable. They hadn't gotten many visitors lately. Monsters had increased for some odd reason, making it more dangerous. The stable owner, Tasseren, looked miserably ahead at the empty road. He sighed, looking as Beedle ran inside along with the children and other staff as the rain began to pour and a thunderstorm began.

The storm made the air misty and made it hard to see further than your own nose. Tasseren was about to walk inside when he spotted a silhouette of a person walking their horse. He rubbed his eyes to make sure he wasn't seeing things, and sure enough, the silhouette was still there. There was a loud clap and thunder and a lightning strike hit the ground mere metres away from the horse and person. Fortunately, the lightning never harmed anyone, but it did spook the horse.

"Midnight! Come back!" The person, who Tasseren could tell was male, yelled.

"Whoa! Horse on the loose!" Tasseren yelled, running outside.
