Chapter 16: The Choice

"Yes," Dani said coldly. "Do whatever you have to do. I will leave quietly. Just leave the members out of this. I am willing to do anything for them." She added.

"Dani, I like the way you think! Your first task is tomorrow," he smiled and left the room.

Dani released her breath and whispered, "What am I doing?" The tears that she has been holding back are rolling down her cheeks.

Then she got a message from Sakura.

😻 Kkura 😻

'Hey Dani! Are we still good for lunch?

' Yeah! Do you want me to pick you up?'

'Is it at our usual spot?'

'Yep.'

'Then nope! I'll meet you there!'

Dani dropped her phone on the table and began to realize the gravity of what she had agreed to. The thought of leaving it all crossed her mind for a split second, but she quickly dismissed it. A deep sense of responsibility towards the girls she calls family kept her grounded. "I can do this," she whispered, " This is for them." Her voice was laced with determination. With that, she rose from her seat and approached the restaurant.

Upon Dani's arrival at the restaurant, she was cordially greeted by one of the well-trained staff members who kindly escorted her to a private room. As the sliding door opened, Dani's eyes were met with the sight of Sakura, who was undeniably gorgeous.

"Dani!" Sakura smiled wide at the girl.

"Hello, Unnie," Dani said hesitantly before taking a seat.

As the two young ladies took their seats, an uncomfortable silence filled the air. The atmosphere was tense, and neither knew what to say. Suddenly, they were interrupted by a gentle knock on the door. The server entered the room, greeting them with a warm smile.

"Hello, ma'am," said the woman with a kind smile. "May I get you anything to drink?"

"Water is fine, thank you," Dani replied with a slight smile.

Sakura chuckled.

"What?" Dani asks in confusion.

"It's just...I mean...I don't think things were ever this awkward between us." She said with a smile.

Dani laughed a bit, too. "Omo, I think you're right, Unnie."

Sakura sighed. "Look, I know we have things we need to talk about, but let's forget about them until after our food. I hate that we're so awkward with each other." Sakura slightly pouted.

Dani let out a sigh of relief. "That would be nice."

Sakura smiled. "How was your meeting today? Did you get in trouble?" She asks curiously.

Dani's smile dropped. That is the last thing she wanted to talk about. "Um...I mean...it went okay. Ji-Young-Oppa was pretty mad at me for not talking to him first, but he applauded me for going over everyone's heads."

"Really? I thought he would blow up." Sakura's eyes widen. "Did you get reprimanded?"

Dani paused before she answered. "Surprisingly, no."

Sakura rolled her eyes. "Dani, you have him wrapped around your figure." She chuckled.

Dani laughed. "I guess so."
