Too Close..

The night was dark and humid, which surprised the two, most nights were gloomy but cold. The boy felt sweaty in the layers of his clothes and the girl was surprisingly comfortable in her thin outfit.

"Six, are you also sweaty? Maybe it's just me," Mono asks

Six shakes her head, "comfortable..." she whispers under her breath, mono raises his eyebrows but six couldn't see through his mask.

Mono puts his hand out for her, she quickly agrees and takes a hold of his hand back. He gently drags her behind him as he wonders for shelter.

The floor was still flooded from the many nights of rain and storms, the sound of their feet slapping on the floor was satisfying and comforting to the boy.

They soon step on a path with dead, pale grass and mono follows it. The broken and used tree's leaves sway in the warm wind.

Mono's legs stick to his pants but six walks freely and doesn't have any sweat restrictions. The path soon stops and leads them to a small area where it looks like an abandoned village.

The houses looked flimsy but when six touched their walls, they didn't budge a bit. She guides her fingers on the rounded walls, enjoying the texture and feeling.

Mono slightly tugs on her hand, signaling her to hurry up, she complies and continues following him. They check every house and every corner, most are dusty and smelled foul.

However one house was darker than the rest and was filled with empty boxes but it smelled like air, they agreed that this was the place without verbally saying it.

Six walks in and looks around at the roof and walls once more before getting on her knees and opening a long horizontal box. The box was filled with clothes, which was pretty good considering their earlier luck.

She scoops out the clothing onto the stable wood floor, mono stands behind her; watching her every move with curiosity.

Six turns her head to make sure mono was still present, not aware he was right behind her back. Once she fully faces him her nose makes contact with his paper bag, their eyes connect.

Mono is filled with shock and embarrassment, he wants to break the stare down and apologize but he finds that he can't. He feels like his eyes are glued on her's like magnets.

Six, on the other hand, feels different. She knows she can look away but she doesn't want to, she can't find a reason a to look away.

Her eyelids start to feel heavy as she looks away completely, going back to her original task. She finds a large, adult blue cardigan; it was well used but it was big enough for both Mono and Six.

Six layers some other clothing inside the empty box as pillows, she removes her raincoat and places it in a sacred corner as mono does the same.

She lays down and covers herself, Mono soon follows her but he's still in shock about their faces being so close together.

His hands were sweaty, his thighs were extremely salty at this point and his neck was drenched. His cheeks hurt from trying to hold back his crooked smile and trying to hold back any pigment, even though it won't show.

He lays down and gets the most comfortable he can be, Six moves back and presses her back onto his. All the flustered feelings return and stronger than ever, Mono wants to squeal, hug her, tell her he'll always protect her, shower her in kisses, and hold her for the rest of his life.

Six had the biggest affect on Mono and didn't even realize, maybe she did but Mono wasn't too sure. "night mono.." she whispers to her partner.

He takes a couple deep breathes and tries to steady his voice, "good night, six.." Mono allows his smile to beam through before drifting into a warm but comfortable sleep, his back still attached to six's.
