10. Cat and Mouse

Tears made their way into her eyes as she turned red out of trembling with discontent and rage.

Agastya looked at ruh getting inside the corridor one last time before finally turning around and making his way outside.

I hesitated, looking at the girl lying on the grass with tears flooding her eyes but was obliged to go.

Night fell over once again like it always did and the courtroom finally emptied after the last person took his leave.

It was just me and his majesty.

" Your majesty, I believe we should retreat to our rooms for a well-deserved rest after a long day. " …I spoke out as i saw him staring blankly outside the gate situated at the far end.

" Call me Agastya."

"Huh?" …My eyes widened.

" Call me Agastya out of work. We're friends now, don't you think ? " …He said with a chuckle.

What exactly was he high on? Does he hear what he says?

" I'm afraid I'm not allowed to do that, your majesty-"
" And who allows you ?" …..he ended all of my answers with just a single question thrown directly.

" You do. " ..I said as I looked down.
" Yeah. I do."

He looked at me once again.
" Agastya."
" So much better." …His husky voice echoed through the walls.

" Do me a favour." ..he declared.
" Anything you say, your majest- ..I mean, Agastya. It's an honour. "

And suddenly the mischievous glint in his brown orbs became visible to me.

What was I in for ?

I couldn't do it anymore as I finally got out of the room. The lawn in front shone with moonlight adoring it as I looked at the stars in the dark horizon.

They shone brightly, decorating the sky.

" You don't understand what an order means. Do you ? " ….the deep voice spoke out from nowhere, scaring me to death.

I turned around and saw the same features being highlighted under the same blue light of the moon.

I formed words and forced them out of my throat feeling about recovering from the morning shock.

" It was suffocating in there. So I had no choice but to step out. "

He looked at me grimly as his steps came forward. the difference being,this time i didn't go backward.

" You always have an answer don't you ?" …He said with a plain face.
Was he drunk ?

I kept quiet.

"Okay. So now you don't answer. " ……Hell. What does this man want me to do?
I kept quite nevertheless.

Soon, he closed the gap until he was so close that our breath mingled.
Bending down to reach my ears, he tucked the loosely hanging strand of hair behind my hair.

"There was a little mouse once upon a time. Too careless, too rebellious, not caring about anyone. And then suddenly, one day the cat came to know about it. You want to know what happened next ?"
…my breath trembled but I wasn't going to give up.

What does he think he is? Coming out of nowhere and tryna scare me ? Not happening. Keep your cat with yourself. The mouse can take care of itself.

"The cat caught sight of the mouse and then suddenly one day …"
He brought his hands to my waist swiftly and pulled me towards himself in a sudden movement.

I gasped, being out of breath.

" It conquered it."

And just like that, his hold loosened.

" Stay away from the snakes, mouse. One swift movement, and no one would know where it all went wrong. " …He matched my eyes to say the last part.

" I hope you know that the mouse can bite too, and it hurts really bad. Infact, there might be an infection too. That is deadly." …..I replied to his face.

He laughed like a mad man. Did I crack some kind of joke ?

Suddenly he stopped and looked at me.

" Now that would be such a blessing for the cat. Wouldn't it ? " ….he said, smirking slightly.

My eyebrows creased at the twisted meaning of his words which I still couldn't catch.

I am sure I wasn't dumb. Or was I ? But what did he mean ?

He sighed softly and spoke again with a devilish demeanor, this time with much more expressions in his voice. Contrast to his usual plain, emotionless voice.

" You realise you're just making it easy for me ? I haven't played games for a long time now. But you're here. The incentive."

" What makes you think you can win the game? " …i said with the same challenging tone.

" You do. Each of your actions, every word you speak. Since i have such a tempting bonus waiting, how can I lose ? "

" You will." …I deadpanned.
