chapter 11: Evacuation

General Ironwood stood on top of the remains of the Atlassian Knights, former pieces of machinery that could have saved millions, now resting under his boots

Ironwood turned to see Glynda Goodwitch and General Samuel Westergaard in front of him. "This area is secure. We need to..." Ironwood saw Samuel taking out his pistol and aiming it at him

"Samuel! This isn't my doing!" Ironwood said, but Samuel remained silent, seemingly not listening to him

Ironwood felt that he couldn't get through to his friend. He saw Samuel's finger over the trigger. He knew what Samuel was going to do. He closed his eyes and accepted his fate. He tensed what he heard the gun fire. He knew he had milliseconds to live, but at least his life was ended by someone he could proudly call a friend

But the general heard a thud behind him. He turned around to see a Griffon's corpse on the ground. The generals eyes widened when he turned around to see Samuel lowering his magnum

"We both know that you wouldn't do something like this, James. You're a general, not a terrorist." Samuel said as he walked towards Ironwood, "Someone has gained control of my machines, and that enormous Grimm seems to be fixated on the school, Glynda, form up with any of the nearby huntsmen and aid in the civilian evacuation."

"I'll deal with the counterattack, but in the meantime, what will you be doing?" Samuel asked

"I still need to get to my ship." Ironwood replied, but the trio looked up to see the last of the Atlas airships fall to the ground

"Well, there goes your ship." Samuel mumbled

The trio noticed some of the Atlassian Knights moving and in the span of six seconds. The knights powered down

"Well, I'll be damned." Samuel said as he let out a small smile

Reaper, Roland, and Jonah were firing off whatever weapon they had left. Their car had been flipped over due to a rocket launcher fired off by an insurrectionist. Their target was covering his ears due to the thunderous roaring of the weapons firing, and the Grimm were surrounding their position

"Last mag!" Jonah yelled as he reloaded his pistol

Roland spotted a Ursa charging at their position, the headhunter aimed at the Grimms head, and fired a bullet from his sniper rifle

The bullet anti-material bullet went through the grimms skull, and the beast of darkness fell to the ground

"I'm out of ammunition!" Reaper called out before dropping his shotgun. He looked around to see a rifle next to a, now destroyed, Atlassian Knight

With no other UNSC fire arm available, the former Noble Six grabbed the rifle and fired off into the small hoard of Grimm

"Dammit, I'm out of ammo!" Roland called out before holding his sniper rifle by the barrel and smacking a beowolf in the head with it

The headhunter fireteam could use anything they could get, their position was being overrun, and they didn't want to lose their target, and if necessary, they could deny the local insurrectionist's the asset by silencing him

An explosion was heard, Jonah turned to see what had caused it before widening his eyes and yelling, "The chief's here!" To his teammates
