Laney POV

I sat in my bed staring at the white walls.

"Knock. Knock." I heard Jory's bubbly voice at the door. I didn't even bother to look up. She came and sat in my bed.

"Come in I guess." I frowned at her.

"Turn to channel 22." She said eagerly. I took my time just to get on her nerves. Once I turned to it I saw the Georgia news.

"It's going around the world that the notorious, Laney Cole, is becoming a sex symbol to many guys and even women." The news reporter said. They put up a picture of me that Jamal took when we were younger. I was lying on a bed in my two piece outfit.

"Yo Laney! Look at the news." Christian called from the other room laughing.

"Are they serious? Now they're looking at my ass while trying to arrest me!" I snapped.

"You are sexy." Jory said.

"Where did they even get that picture?! I was like 14!" I frowned and crossed my arms.

"And you were also sexy." Jory couldn't exaggerate enough. I clicked the tv off and rolled over facing Jory.

"What?" She smirked.

"You look better than me." I giggled.

"Of course I do." She fluffed her curls and puckered her lips.

"Maaaaa!" Jamal called.

"You still letting him do that?" Jory laughed.

"Shut up." I got out of bed and walked down the hall to Jamal's room.

"Wassup shorty.." I asked.

"Got any Neosporin?" He asked.

"Nope. What's wrong?" I sat at the end of his bed.

"My back hurts." He said.

I raised his shirt and saw marks from someone putting a lit cigarette on him.

"Who did all that?" I asked.

"My mama and her boyfriend. Don't be sad because I'm not." He said straight up. I looked at him because he reminded me of myself when I was little. Not the smartest but very street smart.

"Bring me some peroxide." I called out to anyone who was listening.

"Ma, that's gone burn." He shook his head.

"I just want to clean it before it gets infected." I assured I'm it wouldn't hurt that bad. He proceeded to tell me how he just wanted to go to bed.

"I saw you on tv. You were pretty." He said. I'm a sex symbol for little kids too.

"Don't be watching all that bullshit they put on there about me. You feel me? They just want to arrest me and think I'm gone come out." I shook my head.

"They gone find us?" He asked.

"Not if we play it cool. We can't be all out making scenes and shit. That shit dead right now."

"It's dead?" He asked. I laughed and nodded.

"So go to bed and don't worry bout me. And Jory gone run peroxide on you." I patted his shoulder and stood up.

"Night mama." He said.

"Night." I walked out and closed his door.

"I don't care if we on the run. Baby long as I'm next to you." Christian joked as I walked into the living room.

"Don't sing that. Beyonce don't know what being on the run really is. She think it's some type of thrill when it's really a living hell." I laughed to myself

"Well she's famous. I don't think she really care, babe." Christian opened his arms so I can fall in them.

"So how you feel about the whole sex symbol?" I lied between his legs on the couch.

"I feel like you the baddest female walking around." He kissed my head.

"Ouch!!!" I heard Jamal scream.

"Be still, Jamal!" Jory begged.

"Stop hurting him, Jory!" I yelled.
