Shang Xi Zhen, China.

Slowly opening one eye and lowering his gun, Xie Lian watched as the female body froze, slowly falling off to the side. As he turned his head slightly, he also saw the sight of the younger male he had just protected staring right at him, eyes wide. As this boy slowly rose, Xie Lian dropped his gun, starting off with a walk and then increasing to a run, not caring about a single bit of pain engulfing his legs. As he ran over to this boy, with a small lunge forwards, he couldn't help but wrap his arms around the younger person, embracing him lovingly, calling out his name as warm, salted tears fell and the younger boy raised his arms, hugging back just as tight.

"Hua Cheng! I can't believe it!"

"Gege? What... What are you doing here!?"

"I wanted to see you! I couldn't help you last time but I'm here now! I want to protect you!" Xie Lian gasped as he felt a comforting touch on his cheek, gently wiping away any fallen tears. As he slowly looked up, he saw Hua Cheng smiling softly at him.

"Gege... I feel safer with you here." As Xie Lian buried his face into Hua Cheng's chest, he couldn't help but cry even more.

"San Lang... I'm sorry... I'm so sorry! I shouldn't have come back... I'll only drag you all down like you said! I-I can go home now if you'd like! Leave and never come back or-!" Having no better way to keep Xie Lian quiet, Hua Cheng leaned forwards, gently planting a small, gentle kiss on his cheek. As the boy's face grew more red, he stared down at the ground, unsure of what to do or say. Yet, thankfully, Hua Cheng did. Pulling Xie Lian into a tighter hug, Hua Cheng whispered into his ear.

"I should be the one apologising, Gege... I only made you leave because I didn't want to hear you being made fun of any longer but... I guess that was a selfish desire... I'm sorry, Gege..." To Hua Cheng's surprise, Xie Lian delicately placed his hands on his cheeks, a bright smile planted on his own face.

"You don't need to apologise, San Lang... It wasn't your fault."

As silence continued for a few moments, Xie Lian decided to change the topic quickly.

"And your hair! It looks so good short, when did you cut it?"

"Oh, um, not too long ago. Why? Are you falling for me, Gege?" Xie Lian laughed at this question, not realising that Hua Cheng was not joking.

"No no, nothing like that, San Lang. I'm just saying it looks really good on you." As Hua Cheng remained silent, staring into Xie Lian's eyes, the older yet shorter boy quickly grew embarrassed.

"San Lang? Y-You ok?" But, Xie Lian fell silent as Hua Cheng slowly lifted his hands to his neck, slowly taking off his necklace and beginning to put it on Xie Lian's neck.

"Huh!? San Lang, what're you doing?"

"I'm giving you my necklace."

"But... I-I thought only people you loved get this?"

"Hm? I hope you don't mind me saying this, Gege, but how naive are you?"

"What do you mean?" Once Xie Lian said this, Hua Cheng quickly looked left and right, sighing as he crouched down, picking up a grenade Xie Lian never saw.

"This is the worst place to tell you, hold on..." Hua Cheng was about to pull the pin out before he turned to Xie Lian, looking at his cute, innocent, confused expression.

"Here, hold my hand." Hua Cheng put out his hand, a smile implanted on his face. Xie Lian, unsure of what was happening, listened, placing his hand on Hua Cheng's.

"Now, Gege, when I say run, you stay holding onto me and we run, ok?" Nodding as a response, Xie Lian watched Hua Cheng bring the grenade towards his mouth, using his mouth to pull out the pin and instantly throwing the weapon over the van.

"Run!"

As the two boys began to run, Xie Lian looked over his shoulder as he heard the explosion. Beautiful colours of orange and yellow filled his view until it was covered with a solid red. Looking up, he realised Hua Cheng put an umbrella over the two of them, making sure no shards of the grenade would harm them. Moving his vision away from the umbrella and to his ex-boss' face, he saw the seriousness imprinted on his face, all handsome features finding a way to make itself welcome in Xie Lian's eyes. The fallen God could feel his heart beat even faster, jumping and skipping a beat as he realised how he was feeling. Gripping his chest, Xie Lian tried to slow his heart a little, hoping Hua Cheng wouldn't hear how fast it was beating.

Then, slowly, they came to a stop. Standing on top of a tall, grass hill, Hua Cheng gently squeezed Xie Lian's hand as a sign to stop running. Bending over and putting his hands on his knees again, Xie Lian once more tried to catch his breath, very quickly being interrupted by a hand gently lifting his chin. Then, as he watched Hua Cheng lean forwards. The warm hug coming from Hua Cheng was the only thing he could focus on, his heart beating as loud as drums.

Is this really... San Lang?
