Chapter 14

¨Hello, we would like to get a wedding dress fitted for my granddaughter here.¨ Anna who was nearby, cordially replied despite the conflict that had just happened. ¨Alright. Please follow me to the fitting room.¨

Anna brought the family to the fitting room, where a marble platform was built in the middle of a large room with a floor to ceiling 180 mirror and sofas with gold accents surrounding it. A light smell of vanilla and sandalwood lingered in the air as Minuet in G Major softly played in the background. The Granger family streamed into the fitting room and took their seats on the nearby sofas, while Anna brought glasses of champagne to be passed around.

¨Now, I'm Anna and I will be assisting you this afternoon. May I ask the happy bride what she kind of dresses she prefers?¨ Anna smiled and looked towards Kate. Despite her family's disapproving gazes, Kate shrugged everything off and simply described her dream wedding dress as if she had not a single care in the world. ¨Oh I would really like an off shoulder floor length mermaid gown. It just has to be both classy, glamorous but not too extravagant! Could you find something similar to that for me?¨

Anna smiled gently and replied, ¨Certainly, madam. Right this way, I will show you some of our pieces that will suit you just fine.¨ As Kate followed Anna to the catalogue closet stuffed with countless dresses and mannequins donning the latest collection, she glanced back at her family. Seeing Hermione and Grandmother Eleanor looking at her with genuine happiness for her, her heart swelled with euphoria.

¨Have you chosen your pieces? Alright, let's put this on and show the dresses to your family.¨

The gowns Kate chose:

As Kate stepped into the room and onto the platform, audible gasps were heard through the room. Kate seemed to glow as she stood on the elevated marble platform, even with a relatively simple gown, she stood out more than ever. She had chosen Hermione's first design for a wedding gown and Hermione's masterpiece seemed to reflect it back onto Kate herself. The dress hugged her curves in all the right places and complemented her skintone. Kimberly, who had wanted to be the centre of attention and was jealous of her sister donning such a stunning dress exclaimed loudly, ¨Mother!!! I want to wear a dress too!! Jonah, I want to get married too!!!¨

Kimberly's bold statement took Jonah by surprise as he moved his lips and stuttered but no words came out. Clearly, he was taken aback. Aunt Isabelle flushed crimson red in embarrassment at her daughter's shameless words, and immediately motioned for her to stop talking. Grandmother Eleanor cleared her throat loudly and smiled at Kate. ¨Well? Do you like this dress?¨ Kate, who had already fallen in love with the gown, nodded enthusiastically, practically beaming as she twirled around in it.

¨Alright! We'll take it! How much is it?¨ ¨9 hundred thousand nett, inclusive of alterations and any additional accessory, Madam.¨ Anna replied. Before Grandmother could reply, Hermione cut in and exclaimed, ¨No, I will incur the costs. Take this as a wedding gift from me to you, Kate.¨ As Kate heard that, tears began welling up in her eyes. ¨Oh Hermione, I couldnt possibly let you do something like that for me, especially since I had always treated you badly.¨

Hermione reassured her bawling cousin and proceeded to head to the office to finalise the payment. ¨Thank you so much, Hermione. I'll never forget this. I'm... really sorry for everything I've done to you.¨ Kate's tone of voice sounded so sincere, Hermione believed her cousin was finally turning over a new leaf.

Kate's final pick:

Ignoring Aunt Isabelle and Kimberly's not-so-subtle glares, Hermione guided her family out of the store. Unfortunately for her, she heard Uncle Joseph's booming voice say, ¨Let's go to that car dealership. I would like to see what models they have.¨ As Hermione whipped around, her heart dropped as he started walking towards Draco's car dealership. Unbeknownst to her, some unexpected guests were already there as well.
