|The incident...|

I woke up and it was awfully dark, a screaming silence filled the air as I groggily got to my talons. What time was it? I looked over at Rift only to see a horrific sight. Her neck was slashed to badly it was half gaping open, and her body laid lifeless in the biggest pool of blood I had even seen.

A look of terror filled my face as I stumbled back, only to spot the dragonet still sleeping beside her. It was still alive. A part of me sick to my stomach.. but the rest of me? Oh I was happy as hell. I had gotten what I had wanted. Well, technically if the kid was still alive that meant that that fucker still wanted it. Shit.

I didn't think twice. No way in hell was I going to stand around and wait for Typhoon to return to the cave. I grabbed the dragonet and pulled them close to my chest, throwing my satchel over my head as I bolted out the entrance. I ran and ran as fast as my tired talons would take me before I came to a stop by a small outpost.

What in the fuck had I witnessed?

Was I still the bad guy here?

I had won. That was good.

The dragonet was crying, but my mind was elsewhere at the moment. How stupid I was to have not seen the signs, yet in the end I had gotten just what I wanted. What happened was no doubt inevitable, and now all that was left back there was an eerie silence. Shit had went down, for better or for worse was never to be known. I wouldn't ever allow it.

I on the other hand, was now out of breath from the amount of running I had done and was busy thinking till the crying of the dragonet snapped me back to reality. I needed an excuse. "Agh.. no, no! I need a real cover up.. something nobody would ever dare look past." I grumbled as I finished wrapping the small dragonet's broken wing. They were no older than a few months.  I stepped back as the small and precious child stared up at me, clueless as to what was even happening. At least it had shut up. I needed a story that not only they would believe but he would believe as well. "Gwark?" The small child mused with confusion. "Ok I've got it. Now let me tell you the story of what happened."

It went like this;

"I had been out on a work call near the shoreline beaches of the sand kingdom when I had heard wailing. A small dragonet laid injured in the sand and a large Sandwing was standing on top of him. She was going to kill him so I had to act! I did what any real mother would do and dashed over, knocking her off. I had told this monster of a mother that I'd take her son for her since she didn't want him.. After I had saved the small kid I brought him to my nearby camp and patched his injuries. I promised I'd never let anyone take you.."
