¤ Chapter 1 ¤

|1 Month before the incident|

We were in a small hospital in the sky kingdom. Me and my mate Rico had been trying for kids for just over a year now but nothing seemed to be working. We had come to the hospital to see if they could help us. That's where it all started.. that's where it all went wrong. I had just gotten the most devastating news I've ever gotten.. I couldn't even understand why the doctors were telling me. It destroyed my soul to hear those words. I refused to believe it.

"Tell me it's not true!" I begged, tears streaming down my face. I didn't want to accept it.. "We're very sorry ma'am.. but the test results we received don't lie." The crimson red Skywing with a broken wing who was wearing a white lab coat said and looked up at the two of us. "You are infertile" he concluded. "No!" I screeched sorrowfully, not wanting to believe him. The Skywing only dipped his head before leaving the two of us alone.

Rico put his wing around me. "It's gonna be ok Boa, I don't mind not having kids" he said softly, trying to comfort me. "We could always adopt one!" He added with a small smile, nuzzling my neck. No. It wasn't me who was the problem it was him! He was keeping me from having kids. I shoved him aside, which took more effort than I had anticipated due to his size. Moving a Mudwing was harder than it looked.

"It's over. I don't ever wanna see you again!" I snarled as I felt myself tear up again to the point it was beginning to cloud my vision. I gave him a warning growl and Rico took a step back with a look of fear. 5 years we had been together, just the two of us.. but now I was throwing it all away without even realizing it.

"Don't bother looking for me or I'll claw your eyes out" I hissed and quickly marched out of the hospital. I never wanted to see that bastered again.

I ran home in tears, not even apologizing to the dragons I ran into as I went. I swung open the door and began packing only the things I needed; my medical supply satchel and my money. Once I had what I needed I left the house.

I spread my wings and took to the sky, flapping them violently as I made the long journey to the sand kingdom. That's where I would stay and continue my job as a nurse.. and maybe even have some kids in the process.
